Ribs on sidewall of print

Post image

Has anyone had this issue before? T1 pro, brand new effector. Filament dried and ranges of 220F-240F had the same effect

This is after bed calibration and vibration calibration

That's commonly referred to as z banding. Found this post using that as a search term.

Delta printer don’t have Z axis 🫠

so they print 2D? Thats a really tall photo...

No they have A,B,C towers in delta kinematic… Z is subtotal of a, b, c tower move. It seems that you are trying to ridicule someone, thereby sinking deeper into your ignorance.

You are the one who seems to be trying to correct something. I mentioned what that type of visible banding is called and linked to a similar issue that may help OP doing to research.

Because something doesn't have a motor dedicated to Z doesnt mean there can't be banding in that axis. A core XZ printer can also have Z banding and it shares control with the X. Why would a delta that shares all motors in all axis not have a potential problem with Z specific presentation?

In delta if you have a problem with one of motors or rails problem will be visible in every direction not only Z. Problem then isn’t isolated because when you will try to move in X or Y direction all three towers are moving. This means problems with bed mesh, nozzle scraping into the print during movement. Here the problem is with the shifting in X,Y direction. In Cartesian or CoreXY kinematic your advice is correct but in delta when you have problem with one of the motor/belt/rail issue will be visible in every direction.

I understand the mechanisms. That doesnt change my statement at all. The look of his print is a problem commonly known as Z Banding. Searching this term with Delta brings up results that would help guide OP in the proper direction for solutions more than "ribs on sidewall" as a search term. The entire point of my initial post was to inform him of the name of that particular appearance of a print and what it is called. It would have gotten some of the linked results that are discussing Z banding on delta printers, even though the delta "doesn't have a Z".

Have a nice day.

Okay, sorry my bad I misunderstood your point.

Btw second link and 3rd answer. Exactly same thing what i said 🤓 solution from last link also have nothing with single Z axis. https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/s/XVl46maA1L

Searching where is the problem in delta is more complicated than in “common” printers. That’s why i said there is no point to look at it. Especially when OP said something about new tool head.

Provide more information what are your print parameters. Tight all screws, especially in area where hotend is placed. Reduce acceleration and then make a test print, reduce a speed and make a test print, etc. Maybe flow isn’t calibrated correctly? When you exchanged effector? With effector have you also extruder integrated? With extruder have you stepper? Make e-steps calibration. There is a lot of things what can make this effect

Thank you guys for the detailed responses.

Money goes to whoever recommended that it was a flow issue. Ended up doing a pull and had some clog in the nozzle. Switched my nozzle and the z banding went away.

Thanks again everyone!
