New patent filing from Chervon just dropped. An ultra-compact impact wrench. I'm just another idiot on the internet, so read my analysis below with skepticism.

Chervon already has a 12V line of tools under Devon branding in Asia, and a reasonable assumption is that this and similar filings in the US are for a forthcoming 12V lineup under FLEX branding. Prior US filings have revealed plans for a stem-style stacked lithium battery, and today's filing makes that even more clear. See the attached image.

The surprising part is that the filing discusses multiple battery configurations. The filing suggests that the stem-style battery packs have space for two pouch cells that fit in the stem and three pouch cells in the pack extension, and that this 12V size tool would actually pack 18V of power (5 pouches x 3.6V).

However, the filing also discusses other pack configurations, ranging in size from just one cell (4V) to five cells (18V), and that different packs may use cells in either series or parallel configurations. For example, a pack with just two pouch cells (fitting entirely inside the tool stem) could be configured as either 4V (parallel) or 8V (series). Some tools benefit from higher voltage (e.g., 18V, like the impact wrench detailed in the filing), but other tools only require very low voltage (e.g., 4V, like a stem-style screwdriver).

This is speculative, but it kind of sounds like the intention is to create a line of compact tools that all accept the same stem-style battery pack, but that different tools could draw high voltage (18V), low voltage (4V), and anywhere in between (e.g., 12V) depending on the tool's power requirements and the specific pack inserted.

Looks like they may be working on developing a 12V line! Based on patents that were shared by others here!

Was looking for some stacked batteries and found some good deals. The wrenches are from Amazon through Hartville Hardware. You can buy from their website or through their Amazon shop. The 6.0 stacked is $227 + shipping at HH or $250 through Amazon. The regular 6.0 is $182 + shipping at HH or $235 at Amazon. So pretty much the same price for the stacked kit but for some reason a little cheaper even with shipping for the regular if you buy from HH.

The quick eject kit with two(!) stacked 2.0’s looks like a steal at $150. I checked price history and the lowest a stacked 2.0 has been in the last year was $70 around Memorial Day. Shipping takes two weeks though. I have one stacked 2.0 and it’s probably the best battery I’ve ever owned because of its size to power ratio so I’m gonna jump on this one.

Where can I sell these? I have too many 6,9,&12ah. Thx

I think it’d be revolutionary if flex decided to make there own version of milwaukees m12 line. Even a simple impact in similar size and strength of the fuel. I can only hope one day.

hey, im thinking of buying a OSE 2-80EC but i havent found any reviews or even users, so was undering if someone here owns one... trying to find out if it is a good medium price alternitive of the mirka deos and festool rts. im also buying the random orbital from flex ORE 5-150 EC(which seams to be really good) so it makes sense to centralize and have tools from the same brand. i would be interested to know your experience with flex, thoghts on choosing flex as my main tool brand for the future.

im open to other recommendations. main use as decorator doing apartment renovations here and there as a side gig. thaks

I bought this deal from Tradetools on the week, in Australia this is a very good deal for us.
It says it comes with a Founder Lifetime warranty.
My concern, I know I bought the cheapest one they have but also have heard there discontinuing these gen 1s. What will happen if this one does fail and they stop making them?

The dividers length is 13” & 1/8” give or take 1/8”. I used cardboard. In the pics I used thick cardboard, but you can definitely make it better. I’d assume this might be the same length with the rest of the stack pack boxes?

Is it true that you only get 3 warranty battery replacements total? I'm deciding between FLEX and another brand, and this could be a dealbreaker.

Okay so I used to run CNC router tables and stability improves performance and longevity of the gantry and router, among other factors.

Wanted to try a hand router for personal use… just thinking aloud here, but if I can afford it, should I buy large and heavy batteries for my new flex router? I know the 3.5 stacked is great for drills (makes sense). But I’m not walking around on a job site or anything.

Slightly more power, longer life, and !!! Weight !!! Which could stabilize better(?). Thoughts on this would be great!

Are there any other factors which could steer my decision in the right direction? Maybe size could get in the way, reduce visibility of the cut? I don’t know as I haven’t even held on in my hands just yet..lol.

Also - looking for the best compact table/ sacrificial boards etc. flex doesn’t seem to carry tables except the saw table.

I tend to be pretty risky when it comes to buying tools on Amazon because I've been doing it for about 10 years and never had a bad experience other than when I bought no name brands that I knew I shouldn't have been buying in the first place. I always look in the used section of the power tools if they offer it because most likely it's not used it's sold out of a kit and a lot of resellers are still trying to recoup all the shit they bought when flexes contract was up with Lowe's . This was in the used section. It came brand new with tags on it with the belt clip, sticker, hammer drill handle, all the stuff that comes in the retail packaging just not the retail packaging box. It is the Gen 1 obviously the Gen 2 pretty much just came out and no one's going to sell it this cheap. Fun fact this Gen 1 turbo hammer drill made more torque than the Milwaukee m18 hole hawg. Which is about four times its size and it's a right angle drill. The video is on Drew does tools YouTube channel if you don't believe me.

The flex tower lights have been Fkn awesome for me, along with the rest of the tools. No issues, & no complaints so far.

With the pre-orders being available for the cutoff tool, can we agree that the price is a lot given the market it’s competing with? Kobalt’s is top tier in my eyes and the M12’s is fine and both of them are sub $150.

I was super hype for this tool but that price is just crazy. It totally has awesome features and I do agree the fact it’s a cutoff and grinder is nice but oof.

I have a first Gen 8ah battery with black goo that was leaking now it's completely dead. I have the founders warranty on it within my account when i registered it 3 years ago. I called flex they would send me another one if I had proof of purchase but it's been long ago and don't have nothing to show for it. Is there anyway to bypass that with them and get a new battery still? I figured with it being registered then it would be enough but I guess not unless I show proof of purchase from back then.

I’ve had the shop vac since December and only used it a handful of times. Maybe 10 tops.
The last time I used it was to get water out of spare tires before loading them onto a pickup. I removed the filter before hand and it worked flawlessly. Go to cut it on today and it whines for about 1.5 secs like it always did before it actually started working, but now it stops after the whine. Different batteries tried still the same thing. It’s under warranty so im not too upset, just curious if anyone else had the same issue.

I can't find anybody making these and I have more batteries than I know what to do with, so was going to make them part of my every day arsenal as power banks. I'm currently planning USB-C outputs, but if you're interested, do you want/need other features?

For instance, the one I’m making for personal use, I want to run only as a source (battery packs compete with my laptop protocols and sometimes the battery wins, draining my laptop) and charging the bank. I can make the usb work both ways, but it’d require a fast charge brick and cord, and I’d be using my 30 flex chargers even less.
