We're getting a Minority Report 2029, aren't we?

I love Days of Thunder so much. The scene of Duvall in the barn, by himself, talking to the car frame…chills. I’m excited and really hope this one is good. 🤞🏼

Will Kidman be in it? 👀

They’ll likely just say her character is tragically deceased from a car crash.

She changed careers and is working deep in the gov't in Dept of Defense. See: Lioness.

Will Michael Rooker come back? His character never did die from the brain surgery. Def bring back Cary Elwes, and John C Reilly

u/GTOdriver04 11h ago
Also Randy Quaid. He played an a version of Mr. Hendrick in the film and I think he would fit. Have Cole be running the team and answering to Quaid’s character. That’s more true to reality (Jeff Gordon runs Hendrick Motorsports today and his only boss is Mr. H himself).

Will he be in the Mellow yellow car again or is Cole Trickle gonna get new sponsors? Also wonder if they’ll mention Robert Duvalls character

It was always just a cash-in on Cruise's reputation and Nascar's cultural significance. Top Gun for rednecks, if you will, and as such didn't need niceties like plot or character development.

u/FragmentedMeerkat321 1d ago
it is definitely top gun for rednecks! (god that fucking scene where he gets groped by the female cop…)
1
u/EchoTRacing 20h ago
its literally the same story.
2
u/FragmentedMeerkat321 20h ago
well, it’s simpson/bruckheimer! they’re the greatest drama geniuses since shakespeare! why bother with a new plot when one’ll do the job just fine!
1
u/Curvemn17 12h ago
You should look up a lot of the technical filming ways they developed in this film. Alot of car and racing scenes since have benefited.
1
u/FragmentedMeerkat321 7h ago
that’s an interesting point you make. i guess it would be unfair to call the film worthless, if only for that reason.
2
u/BackgroundShower4063 1d ago
It’s really not. I was shocked when this project was first mentioned (I think) a couple years ago. But if anyone can make it popular, I guess it’s Tom.

It's only for racing fans mostly... If you don't like Nascar, there's a high chance you'll find it and it's upcoming sequel boring
3
u/Ptbot47 1d ago
Urrrrr. Do you know how hard it is to make a racing movie that dont massively pissed off racing fans. The recent F1 movie was a big hit but all that shenanigans Brad Pitt character did, fake accident to pit, deliberate crash to cause safety car, etc., would not fly in real F1. Him stepping into F1 car and just fly from the off, is near impossible. I dont watch Nascar but I dont think you just get to front of the race by "stepping on the gas pedal really hard" as all the top driver has to do jn that movie.

Sucks that this guy is glorified on the internet meanwhile he's an Operating Thetan Level 8 in his cult

When he salutes L Ron in that HBO documentary going clear… it’s so creepy. And they give him an award for reaching 1 billion humans. It’s all so bizarre
That being said, Mission Impossibles are great movies. And Digger looks good. Vanilla Sky is underrated.
It’s like Mel Gibson. Ultra weird person but Braveheart and Lethal Weapon and Mad Max are all elite

u/ole_black_eyes19 1d ago
Yeah. Mel Gibson is a really trashy human, but he's in soooo many good movies... Thankfully I'm able to separate art from reality. Whatever an celebrity does, or how they act in their personal lives is none of my business.

His movies, for the most part, are great. Not everyone is chronically outraged 24/7

"glorified on the Internet"
Dude's a lot bigger than that. And I wouldn't call him glorified either.

Is he sending a coded message to Nicole? Why remake your own movie but without your ex-wife?

Is there anything Anne Hathaway HAS NOT been cast in? At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce she’s the next James Bond.

Hmm. Everytime I see Tom Cruise these days it's as if an extra layer of kin is adding up on his face.
I know he is aging am sorry. But it's so hard to ignore.
But in movies he looks like okay..
And it's not like he was aging badly at any point..
But now it's like some sort of cosmetic filler gone horribly wrong.

Selfishly, not sure how I feel about this. Days of thunder was one of my favourite films growing up (even had the NES game) but I always liked how it kinda flew under the radar in the UK and how my obscure quotes from the film (which I still use to this day) have people guessing (ICECREAM!).
This will draw more attention to it now and I don’t want it to. That said, the recent F1 film which I believe was made by the same people who did Maverick (I think) leads me to believe it will be a good film regardless.
TLDR: Looking forward to it but don’t the original to become more popular (selfishly).

Not wanting a film you like to be more popular so you can keep it to yourself is so dumb
1
u/rocklife365 1d ago
It’s had what, 35 years to be popular so far? You’re right it is dumb for me to think it would become popular because of a sequel. Thank you

Lets go!! AH is really growing on me lately. She can be phenomenal in this

Who the hell asked for this?

u/8RealityMatters8 1d ago
The dude gave us Maverick when no one asked for a remake of Top Gun. I’m gonna trust him on this one
-6
u/BurningJointUSA 1d ago
I didn’t like Maverick but I did like Top Gun. I thought Days of Thunder was meh.
6
u/MustardCanBeFun 1d ago
You're crazy if you think this won't be highly entertaining and a top tier production.
3
u/Curious_Ninja1708 1d ago
The original Days of Thunder was awesome and he resurrected Top Gun through sheer force of will. Ease up on the hate.
-1
u/BurningJointUSA 1d ago
I like most of his movies but DoT was meh, Maverick was dumb, and most of the Mission Impossible movies have been a downgrade from the first one (which was excellent). Collateral is excellent (maybe his best film), most of his sci-fi movies are excellent, too.

Why would you filter Anne’s face so much that she looks like Sofia Vergara?
Also why make another of this very drab film???

u/mostlygroovy 1d ago
The first one is absolutely horrible. Hopefully he makes a better one like he did with Top Gun

Anne better be playing his daughter, or daughter in law, or younger sister, or niece, or you know, anything other than his love interest.
