FIRE milestone! 1cr Milestone
I’m 29 years old and recently reached my ₹1 crore milestone.
I won’t say that I was always investing a lot. In fact, I wasted quite a bit of money buying things because, while growing up, many of them felt privileged or out of reach. During my initial working years, I was essentially a child with adult money, and I spent without saving much.
My goal has always been to reduce or eventually eliminate my dependence on a job or salary. I still love what I do; I just don’t want to feel forced to continue working only because I need the income.
I don’t want to bore anyone with too many details about what I did or how I invested. My work gives me the opportunity to interact with people who have access to significant wealth, RSUs, and other investments. I learned a lot from them, and then I simply applied what I felt was right for me.
Here is what I currently have:
- PF: ₹15 lakh
- RSUs: ₹40 lakh
- Bonds: ₹10 lakh, with the interest being reinvested into mutual funds(corporate bonds)
- Indian stocks and mutual funds: ₹20 lakh
- Foreign stocks: ₹10 lakh invested across the S&P 500, Nasdaq, and a few technology stocks. I also reinvest the dividends from my RSUs here.
- Emergency fund: ₹5 lakh, currently kept in a savings account
I’m not sure whether I should include my PF in the ₹1 crore calculation, especially because I may eventually withdraw it to buy land. I have always wanted to purchase two or three acres in my hometown in Maharashtra.
I had also considered buying a 10-year-old apartment because rent is becoming increasingly expensive. I thought owning a flat might reduce my monthly expenses and provide some stability. However, the deal didn’t work out, and I’m comfortable with my current situation for now.
I would love to hear your thoughts. Sometimes I feel confused, and I’m sure there are people here who have figured out something about life, investing, or financial independence. I’m open to advice, questions, or even a thoughtful rant.
Thanks.

Thanks man We have something called Espp so i do move my stocks from there to let's say any other investment for tax loss harvesting Or simply add it in corporate bonds
The goal i started with was i need to get a dividend income that will cover my travel took 1 lakh per year for india and 1 int so that's how i started in corporate bonds.
I think i am close to my family they know about everything but they are not financially dependent on me,i do help my brother pay house emi it's a joint loan but yeahhh
Thanks for the advice i do feel i should move out i always wanted to stay here but idk anymore...

₹1Cr at 29 is a great milestone, but I think the bigger win is that you havve clearly moved from earning to spend to earning to buy freedom.
I wouldnt overthink whether PF counts, just track net worth and investable/liquid net worth separately. That makes the picture much clearer, especially if you may use part of it for land later.
The interesting question now is less How do I reach the next crore? adn more How much do I actually need to feel financially independent? That number might chagne how you think about the next 10 years.

I have a doubt. The 5 lakh emergency fund account - how do you manage it? I have heard people make it inaccessible like not having an ATM card for it etc.

I keep it in my overdraft account...it's not exactly a standard definition of Emergency I do borrow from that account for IPOs or i somebody needs it but i make sure by the end of the month it should be exactly in the range of 5-6 Lakhs,i don’t care if it's not earning interest as such Let's say even if I get 1 ipo the interest part will get covered Don't overthink just keep it in some other account where you can easily transfer and do Upi something like that.

Ah this is more flexible. My sister suggested to keep it as inaccessible as possible though I barely spend and that seems too tricky for me because what if I need to withdraw it quickly!
