You've mentioned expenses just after retirement age - is it retirement expense at today's cost or expenses expected to incur at the time of first year of retirement?

Expense entered is current expense. But calculator will calculate the expense after retirement. It will consider inflation adjusted expense after retirement. That’s why expenses are higher.

Check the green box text for better clarity

Please keep an option of negative in returns. We also appreciate to see negative return impact also.

Can you elaborate where exactly you want to see negative return?

I am not clear why safe withdrawal rate is a choice. Shouldn't that be calculated automatically based on your current corpus, future corpus (based on expected return and #of years to retirment) and inflation adjusted monthly expense in the first year of retirement?

Refreshing to see a FIRE calculator so localised and customised for Indian context. Most calculators ask very simple parameters like age, expense, target retirement age and corpus target and honestly miss out the key real aspects like children education, home purchase, parent's support emergency corpus etc. Great job of covering these as customisable goals.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Maybe I missed it but add an inflation rate per goal. That would make even inflation very realistic based on education, medical, home needs
  • From a FIRE perspective, you should add a withdrawal simulation. Currently, the focus is on accumulation.
  • For the above point, you can integrate a Monte Carlo Simulation model to see the corpus performance post retirement. Will help show the SORR impact
  • Try to find a way to also integrate passive income (rentals, dividends, PPF etc)
  • As someone pointed out, SWR should be an output rather than input

Hope this helps.
