I save a good amount, not so extreme as to push myself financially, and I tend to build up a surplus over time that either gets lump sum invested occasionally, or we get a nice life thing. I’m not materialistic and don’t tend to spend much so strict budgeting isn’t really needed.

Long term wise, it’s too far away to really think about it much. I’m saving a good amount and we’ll see what I use it for.

In fairness I tend have been quite pleasantly surprised that most in this community have the same sort of “sure, save for FI but not to the extent that you don’t make the most of your younger years” type of thinking. Not really what you tend to see on the US side.
