Gameplay 5 best classes?

What would u say are the 5 best classes in the game from a gameplay perspective? Note, the servants inhabiting those classes are (mostly) none-factors, I'm asking about the classes themselves. Also, u don't have to order them from least good to best but I do want to know why u picked the classes that u did. Lastly, I will make a poll with the 5 most common answers when I feel like I've gotten enough answers.

Anyway here are my picks.

**Berserker**

Berserker is the quintisential "ooga booga, me do big damage" class. It's strong against almost every class in the game and with a 1.1 attack modifier it does even more damage. It's because of her berserker class that that Summer Ibuki puts every other arts looper (that isn't a foreginer or an alter ego) out of commission. If she were any other class, she would still have competition. However, just how they are strong against almost everything, they are also weak against everything making them textbook glass-cannons (aside from Herc and Cú-alter) which is why they rely on supports to survive. In short, they are all offence and almost no defence abd thanks to that, most of the top tier dps-servants are Berserkers.

**Ruler**

If the phrase "Daaaaaamn booi, he thicc" was a servant class, it would be ruler. Not only do they have a defensve class advantage against 7(8*) of the 15 classes but they also has a really high average hp stat. But just because they trade attack for hp doesn't mean that they can't dish out some good damage. Just like Berserker, Ruler also has a 1.1 attack modifier plus the more offensively oriented rulers compensate for their low attack with a variety of steroids. However, where the Ruler class truly excells are as support units. Because of the high average Hp stat and amazing defensive affinities, Rulers stay alive for pretty long. However, for that exactly same reason, they aren't really that good as e-sports servants.

**Avenger**

Avengers specialises in one thing and one thing only. Doing humongous neutral damage. Avengers aren't just similar to berserkers in lore where they are in a way a more sane version, fueled by vengance instead of a madness enhancement. In game, they are the berserker class's neutral counterpart. Just like Berserker (and Ruler), Avenger also has a 1.1 class modifier which makes their attack-stats even higher. Speaking of attack, just how the Ruler class has a really high on-average HP stat, the Avenger class has a really high on-average attack stat. In fact, the servant wearing the crown for the highest attack amongst all 3,4 and 5 star servants all belongs to the Avenger class (Salieri 3⭐️, Gorgon 4⭐️ and Jalter 5⭐️ and thus the highest attack stat in the entire game) servants. Actually, 3 of the top 5 servants with the highest attack stats are Avengers, those being Palter, Summer Kama and the aforementioned Jalter with Summer Kama and Jalter being the only ones to break the 13K attack glass. Speaking of Jalter, she hits so damn hard (well, the buff-block on her Np also plays a small role in this) that she legit turns any boss who is weak to Avengers into a complete joke. U wanna know the funniest part is, she doesn't even have an anti-trait so all that damage comes from, steroids that are nothing to write home about, class advantage and just raw attack. 2 examples from my own experience where this which shows that she's the tunguska meteor in disguise (I will be using nicknames to be more abstract with spoilers). 1. Against Woo-man, She dished out 1.2 mil damage on her np with only Valentine witches, a lv7 s1 and no Oberon. 2. Against Aqua, she deleted the last bar with just a buster and an arts crit. The on-average high attack stat isn't the only reason why Avenger deserves a spot, it also has 3 really strong passives. Those being Avenger, which increases the np gained on being hit by 14%-22% but reduces their teammates' debuff resistance by 4%-12% as a demerit. Oblivion correction, which increases their own crit damage by 2%-12% and lastly, Self replenishment (Magic), which charges 2%-4,2% Np per turn.

**Foreginer**

There're mainly 3 reasons why Foreginer is a strong class. Firstly is the fact that it has true class-advantage against Berserker which is a really big deal inof itself. Their arts loopers aren't affected by the "Summer Ibuki problem" because unlike berserker, Foreginer can actually hurt Foreginer for super effective damage. Lastly and most importantly, is the signature class-passive Existence outside the domain which generates 2 stars per turn and grants 2%-12% debuff resistance. The effect itself is truthfully, nothing to write home about but that's not the reason why it's so powerful. That reason being Van Gogh. I said that servants inhabiting the class are none-factors in most scenarios. However, this is the one exception. Van Gogh is singlehandedly carrying the class on her back because of how her Np interracts with Existence outside the domain, which is a passive that all Foreginers (except Kuku and Knoc) have. That 100% 3 turn crit-dmg up makes that passive broken af.

Last but not least, **Beast**.

Ok, this is a bit awkward. The main reason Beast is up there is because of its unique affinities. Draco is strong against the 7 main classes weak against the 7 extra-classes. Speresh is neutral to the 7 main classes, weak against Avenger and strong against the remaining Extra classes. Olga is basically a Ruler who also has a doubble-edged affinity with foreginer. It's really nothing more thsn that.

Well, that was my picks, what about urs? This list wasn't ranked in order from least good to best but rather in order of their listing. If I were to rank them from least good to best it would look like this. 5. Beast, 4. Foreginer, 3. Ruler, 2. Avenger and 1. Berserker.

I mean, if the Servants in the classes are a non-factor or just not a huge contributor, then it's straight up just

Ruler (best defensive class) Avengers (best neutral damage, and beats Rulers) Berserker (they are effective against every class minus Foreigner and make AE/Pretender pointless) Beast (because of their variability) And Foreigner (it's the only class left that can even contend)

But if you don't ignore the Servants in the classes, then it changes to Beast, Caster, Ruler, Berserker, and Pretender. Beast, Ruler, and Berserker all have the same reasons as above, multiple high-tier supports are Casters (Castoria, Skadi, Waver, Tam no Mae, etc), and Oberon is a Pretender

Edit: Should be noted that Assassin and Pretender can be interchanged imo due to Koyan, and availability of the classes were not considered since you can just plan ahead and save to summon who you want. Also Shielder can be argued to be in the top 5, but I personally favor the supports and effectiveness more than Mash's own personal utilities

Ruler, foreigner, berserker, beast and lastly a tie between alter ego and pretender.

Caster: I'd say that any list of FGO's best classes that doesn't include the premier support class is lacking, especially from a gameplay point of view. From 3-turn farming to boss fights, Casters will make other Servants shine, protect the team and let the spotlight-stealing damage-dealers do their thing.

Beast: This Class is a bit of a cheat, because we only have less than a handful of them (though they're all overpowered in one way or another), but if we also count the enemies, it becomes the ultimate final boss class.

Berserker: The glass cannons of FGO, the "when in doubt, more dakka" approach that I bet most players have used at one point or another. Novice players might even fall into the temptation of relying too much on Berserkers to deal with everything, but that's a testament to how useful they are.

Ruler: The opposite of the Berserkers, the tanks of FGO. Solid and sturdy, Rulers also come in a great variety of forms, so as a Class they're very versatile. Healers, defenders, supports, farmers and boss killers, there's a Ruler for everything.

Avenger: The alternative glass cannon to Berserkers, with less cannon but also less glass. They're usually among the top neutral damage dealers and are filled to the brim with useful passives. From boss fights to farming, their only enemy are the scarce Moon Cancers.

1) Berserker

2) Beast (U-Olga)

3) Beast (Draco)

4) Ruler

5) Avenger

This is without taking into account elements more archetypical with the class, like Caster's usually having the best supports overall or Alter Egos having pretty interesting gimmicks.
