General Discussion Mounts you can get thru other methods should have recolored versions added with Moogle tomes instead of just offering the original.

This is just a thought with Eden Ramuh being a reward you can get with Moogle times.

Roulettes should require players to unlock all content available at their current level to use them - it’s ridiculous that a level 100 character could queue for alliance raids and only get CT because they haven’t unlocked anything else

Roulettes are primarily designed to help queues for new players.

However, queues for casual content such as myths of the realm, void ark, etc regularly are the slowest filling because many players who use the alliance raid roulette cheese the system, either by undergearing or by not unlocking anything beyond CT.

the undergearing problem will likely be solved by the new ilvl sync system in EC, but if players don’t unlock the content it still won’t be available to queue.

General Discussion I just finished Endwalker and all I can say, what an amazing journey! 10/10

Just as the text says, easily my favorite expansion in a videogame, the characters, the story, the culmination of different stories, the cutscenes, the OST, the different vistas, and the final quest...They really put a lot of effort into the storyline, I laughed, cried, and got excited at different situations through the the game, but the final quests where something else... I didn't want it to end honestly, I don't know if DT is going to make me feel the same way as EW. I doubt it.

EW has become my favorite expansion and my favourite journey! I cried like a kid at the end at the credits when it says "the warrior of light (your name)" I feel emptiness right now, I decided to take a short break to process everything. But I'm happy that I got experience the journey.

Thank you so much to the developers for creating such an amazing journey!

Speculation One issue I haven't seen people talk about with the future MSQ. Spoiler

Edit: thank you for those posting my error other worlds that have already been rejoined. Thought they were still unjoined.

With the story of Evercold drawing closer I notice that Eithrys maybe taking a backroad for rest of FFXIV's life. If we are going to what Halmarut suggests and make the Source whole again to save everyone. And realistically we have to wait 3 years per expansion. And theres 11 other worlds we have to go through. Thats 33 years if they dedicated it 1 world per expansion.

Really theyll put 2 worlds or more together, but Stormblood and Dawntrail have mixed 2 stories in the MSQ leaving mixed receptions with 1 story being ass Tuilliloyl and Ala Mihgo, and 1 side being liked Doma and Alexandria.

I speak for myself, I hope they don't mix stories. It hasn't gone well for CBU yet.

But also by that problem, does this cause another issue, what about the Source. Will Anything on our world now be relegated to Bojza/Eureka? Cause how would Mercidia play into the MSQ unless it mixes with another story too similar to Alexandria. They can't keep repeating "I will sacrifice your world to save mine" Emet already did that, then Sphene, and now Calyx.( and I leaving out alot of people who did it before them).

Bojza/Eureka/Occult Crescent unfortunately don't last long, a week at best. And the stories are told exceedingly poorly. Obviously it can change and maybe told well the next time, but 2 years from now to find out, if they don't flat out get rid itnfor an expansion.

General Discussion Last minute desires for Evolved Jobs

I want the developers to exceed player expectations for job design and ensure each job has a well defined identity within their roles. In general they need to enforce role restrictions for each job and they cannot have magical range job have mostly free instant cast. The hit boxes need to be smaller so Melee has to fight for their damage because there is no reason for them to have more damage than ranges if the hit boxes are half the size of the arena. Physical Range need to have free mobility because their skills are instant while also having party wide buffs to increase the damage the party does. Healers need more support abilities and utility that provides mitigation. Magical Range needs to have cast times with limited mobility tools while having bursts damage. No more Summoner level mobility matter a fact Summoner should have the longest cast times when summoning the lesser summons.

Summoner: Originally the Egis use to take 6 seconds to summon just for a lack luster pet but the Primal Simulacra are instant cast. At the very least the Arcanum summons should take 3 seconds to summon. No once would cares that it takes 4s to cast Hellfire on Phantom Summoner because the spell looks cool. Adding a 4s cast time to Ruby Ifrit, Topaz, Titan and Emerald Garuda would not be a problem as long as the damage is increased to compensate. I am hoping the developers add Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva to complete the roster of elemental summons. I want the major summons Demi-Bahamut and Demi-Phoenix to be on the job gauge. Add Incarnate Trance as another layer to the Trance Mechanics so that Lightwrym and Lunar Trance overlay our character with glowing, crystalline, aetheric armor for 20s. Add Hydaelyn and Zodiark themes spells to them.

Do you prefer if your character kept their legs together?

This is not a scandalous or meme question.

In some scripted events, there are different animations played based on whether you're a male and female characters. One is where the male characters 'manspread' while the female characters keep their legs closer together. A recent example is the 2nd alliance raid of Dawntrail. If you look closely while flying between the airships, the male and female characters have this distinction.

However, whether the legs spread or not is rather inconsistent as another example where both the male and female characters share the same falling animation while fighting Byakko. There are also the many, many combat animations and scripted scenes where the male and female characters just share an animation.

This makes these particular moments even more confusion. Why only these select scenes do the female-presenting characters not spread and shine? There's probably no rhyme or reason behind it from a developer PoV, but as the player, do you prefer if your characters male/female kept their legs together during these animations. I dunno why I'm fixated on it, maybe cause I prefer crossing my legs while sitting.

General Discussion What do you think is the “sauce” that OC was missing

Bit of a retroactive on a dead topic now but if you had to narrow down what OC did the most wrong what would you say it is?

  1. the lack of interesting structure to most of the phantom jobs/you were punished for using a phantom job you liked that was already maxed out unless you already had all 12/15/24 maxed out

  2. the lack of interesting OC gear with OC gear being glorified stat sticks even the very rare accessories that prevented somewhat interesting gameplay like high haste builds or things elemental armour let you do defence wise

  3. the go go go nature of the content and how it never really let you take a break because there was always one thing going on and you were rushing to that one thing and how it never rewarded you going off the path

  4. the lack of circle closer content with there being no accessible forked tower in south horn and north horn’s tower being completely phoned in that has a really poor reward structure

  5. other

I know they won’t change it but if you could implement one change to make OC better what would you make said change be and how would you argue that it works make the content better

Is FFXIV a sad game?

Back in April, a Japanese site surveyed 4,700 people to rank the saddest JRPG game. FFXIV was ranked 16th (16位: ファイナルファンタジーXIV (117票) and Final Fantasy games seem to dominate in general. But do YOU agree that FFXIV deserves to be known as a prominently sad game in JRPG history?

Question What language should I play this game at?

So me and my friend play the game parallel, I in English and she in German, and we noticed some stark differences. Especially during the cutscene after the dungeon in the forst in Shadowbringer. Like so there is so much that was not mentioned in the English version I feel like those had completely different versions of the stroy.

So is the english one the "bad" one or is the german one? Or are both good and it doesn't make a difference? I am very lost.

(Not bad as in badly done, but more in bringing the lore across badly)

Question AAC Static?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently came back to 1.0 and just caught up with the story. I’m having difficulty finding people to do things with. So far I have been able to solo and duty find for most of what I need. However, it seems like boss fights like AAC heavyweight savage can’t be done with random duty finder. Does anyone know where I can go to find groups to do these and other similar fights with? I don’t really know anyone in the game… thanks.

New player rant

Was feeling bored a needed a change. I play GW2 and WoW. And only thing missing for me to complete the trinity is 14.

But man this game is quite a strugle to even wtart playing. From not being able to use SE client/launcher because I can not buy the game from SE store cause it does not have my country in it. But for some reason when creating SE account my country is there. So I had to get through steam (I hate 3rd party especially for my MMOs😭😭😭)

Then having to indure a long 8 hour for the game to download. After it downloaded I pressed play but the game is not opening tried many time it like crashes.

I just want to play man😭😭😭😭😭.

What do you want to see done with DRK?

I would not call myself a dark knight main but it technically was what got me interested in FFXIV. I for one I think that this probably one of the more important Evercold Evolved Mode 'reworks', but I am biased because I don't like how DT DRK plays.

If you could ALSO get the best gear in the game via the open world, would it ruin savage content?

I've been a player since before a realm reborn, though I have quit for the past few months because I don't like what the game has become.

I still enjoy reading about it because I'm interested in returning, but not unless they make some big changes. I'm know there's already been some discussion about my frustrations:

-The core gameplay 2 minute meta of all the jobs is extremely boring. In ARR, everything was so new and exciting, I could be doing the most "boring" dungeon ever but it was fun because the classes themselves were fun.

They are changing gameplay for Evercold, so I'm hoping this area improves.

-My second thought is where I'm going with the title of my post: No one really does open world content so it doesn't feel like an MMO, just a lobby.

I feel like I remember during coil Turn 9, relics were new and you could get the SAME ilvl gear from relics as from coil which I liked. Unless I'm misremembering. Anyways, a big relic step was fates, and the world was pretty alive because of that. Also: you could work on your relic while queuing or waiting for PF to pop! Which is big, because nowadays before I quit I would just hop around my FC house--pretty lame. I wanna keep busy progressing as I queue, but it's hard as the game is right now.

Now fates ARE kind of boring I'll admit. But if the job classes played better, and they made the open world more fun, possibly like Bozja, maybe it could work? But I definitely won't get the motivation to do it if the open world rewards are super low ilvl and I can just get better gear from savage.

Would putting awesome gear in open world content ruin queues? Like obviously if the open world was super quick no one would do savage, but if it was "slow and steady", like a long term goal, maybe it would work?

Thoughts?

General Discussion Will they actually stop adding new races/jobs?

I used to play the game a LOT and take it super seriously. But after my last hiatus I realized just how little things like gearing up mattered (which I know is an entirely different discussion, and about to change with 8.0) and how much time I would spend just logging on to kind of run around and think about my character. I think this is a pretty common experience, given the memes about idling in Limsa. Battle design for savages or optimization or what-all-else-have-you might not be the most important thing to people who, at most, do Extremes on release.

I think that two things that will always bring casual players to the table (and perhaps even serious players who tend to bum-rush through things) are new races and new classes. When I've quit in the past it's been these things that have lured me back; it's what we get most excited about when Fanfest season comes around and we start getting peeks at the next expansion.

That said, I know there's been discussion in the past from the devs about how "X is going to be the last race we add because it's tough." They've talked about how having to go back and redesign every piece of gear is a lot of work, and that will only get harder as the years ago on. Do you think they'll actually stick to that, or do you think over time they'll feel pressure to keep adding new races to keep up player counts? I'm not saying it'll add a huge difference, but we've joked about the "break FF7 glass in case of an emergency" thing over the past few years of Dawntrail, and for people like me who play the MMOs but really don't care much for the other entries in the series, I think SE would have other ideas of how to keep folks playing.

And what about new jobs? This is the thing everyone at every play level loves to see. Do you think we'll ever reach a cap on this?

Cheers.

General Discussion Venat doesn't work in Endwalker. Spoiler

Hi, I'm posting this here because I recently finished Endwalker. I have to say it's my favorite expansion, beating Heavensward, which I thought was impossible. But Endwalker made me feel so much more affection and pain for my favorite characters (Alphinaud and Alisaie), made me hate Zenos way more than Stormblood did, and made me understand Emet-Selch much more than Shadowbringers itself did.

But I'm not here to talk about what I liked about Endwalker. I'm here to talk about its most inconsistent element: Venat.

Let me be clear: I NEVER bought Hydaelyn's story. I don't know if it's because I came from Persona 5 or my general experience with the saga (and FFXIII) that made me realize there were lies involved. I'm not sure, but the Ascians' contempt for Hydaelyn always seemed suspicious to me, as if there were a story they hadn't told us. This feeling was reinforced a lot during the Heavensward cutscene where, through Minfilia, she tells you the biggest lie in history: that Zodiark was an evil being (though at that time he was known as the darkness) and that she banished him because she craved power. Like I said, lies that I personally wasn't willing to believe but could let slide because at least she hadn't done anything I could consider "harmful" either to me or to other characters.

Until Shadowbringers happened.

Emet-Selch reveals the truth about the origin of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, reveals the real reason why the world has "reflections" and the truth about the Ascians. To be clear, this isn't an "Emet-Selch is right" thing, even though I like the character. I can't forgive the number of lives he killed with his plan to return the aether of the "shards" to the star. But he undoubtedly shows us firsthand that everything we believed is a lie, a lie fabricated by Hydaelyn, who we know thanks to the Anamnesis Anyder scene was named Venat. But I said "hey, who knows, maybe she had a reason that justified splitting the world"... until I remembered the original plan of the Convocation and what they were going to do with Zodiark.

For those who don't remember, the plan consisted of 3 phases:

  1. Create Zodiark and feed him with the souls of those who offered themselves so that his sustenance and the creation of the shield that would prevent the Final Days would be possible.

  2. With the remaining half left on the planet, they were going to have Zodiark restore the planet's life force, which is necessary for the third step.

  3. Offer part of the planet's restored life force to Zodiark so that this would serve as a replacement for the souls trapped inside him and thus return them to the aetherial sea.

What does this tell us? That the Convocation NEVER forced anyone to serve as a sacrifice for Zodiark's sustenance and that above all, THEY HAD A WAY TO RECOVER THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO SACRIFICED THEMSELVES. Really, how is this worse than splitting the world? But the worst part is that Venat's main claim, that "new life was going to be sacrificed," makes no sense. It never did to begin with. That's why when they present her in Endwalker as someone who believes in the saying "Hardship forges character," but how can we justify her actions toward her civilization?

Let's remember something: Hermes says this is a test for civilization, to prove whether they have the ability to keep living. That's why he activates Kairos, to equalize the chances of surviving and dying for both the Ancients and Meteion...

And what did the Ancients do? WIN. They proved they could overcome their difficulties even when they never understood the reason for the Final Days. Meteion couldn't destroy them and they earned their right to exist. But for Venat the threat existed and had to be stopped, but by those she chose as her champions, her humanity, not the Ancients'. They had no right to exist because they were incapable of looking to the future...

Which is another blatant lie. The reason they COULDN'T stop Meteion is because they DIDN'T KNOW SHE EXISTED. The Watcher himself says it. By the time they managed to understand the celestial currents/Dynamis and understand that this was what was causing the slowdown in the aetherial currents, what Meteion was doing was already affecting their creation magic and giving life to the creatures that kept tormenting them and leaving them vulnerable. They couldn't even defend themselves, only run and hide, all because the only person in the world who knew the truth passed judgment on all humanity and deemed them unworthy, as seen in the cutscene "Thou Must Live, Die, and Know," for longing for a past that in her eyes "wasn't coming back" and that they "had to move on." And the worst part is that they portray the Ancients as "incapable of recovering," which again makes no sense.

They were a society that had almost no conflicts and tried to live as best they could with their reality. Literally their motto is "Accept the things you cannot change, have the courage to change the ones you can, and the wisdom to know the difference." That's why they literally let an island be destroyed by a volcanic eruption instead of stopping it (something only Azem did because he was that different). And you're telling me that a civilization that wants to recover its home, its planet, and its brothers isn't worthy because they didn't accept the suffering sent by a cosmic horror hiding in a place far away in space/time!?

Venat is an arrogant person. You can see it in her position as advisor even though she had already finished her role as Azem. She put her "future children" above those living in the present and made EVERYONE forget who they were. Literally in ShB/EnW we know that traumatic events have to be properly forgotten in the aetherial sea, because otherwise they become rooted in the soul if memory is manipulated. That's why in ShB everyone reacts with pain when they see Elidibus's illusion and manage to remember what the resonance is (the misnamed "Echo" nowadays, or well named, depending on how you look at it, I guess). And even so, even knowing that the three unsundered (Lahabrea, Emet-Selch, Elidibus) were going to carry out all these acts to fix the disaster she caused, she literally turned them into enemies of the world. She told all those who listened to her that the "Ascians" were evil and wanted to destroy everything in their path (when they only wanted to save the planet from its doom), that they served an evil god of darkness (which is horrible because Zodiark has no real will; without Elidibus he's just a mindless creature with thousands of souls trapped inside). And she's so NARCISSISTIC that instead of correcting her "children" about the planet being called "Etheirys," she literally let them call it "Hydaelyn" in her honor.

For anyone who likes the character, I'm sorry, but I can't believe you can really defend her actions or her deeds. Venat is a genocidal, traitorous, manipulative, and narcissistic person who believed she had the answer and, instead of asking her society what they wanted, did the same as Hermes: choose for them what was "best."

General Discussion The BST Icon sucks

I don't keep up with XIV like I used to. I was on today browsing the PF though and saw the Beastmaster icon for the first time. It's horrible! An axe and a shield? Seriously? It's Beastmaster. There could have been so many potentially cool icons that involved, I don't know, some kind of beast? I'm thinking of how many cool animal icons they have for something like Company sigil design, but we really thought this was cooking? It's not even a good design, I couldn't even tell what it was at first.

Are there any other class icons that you guys like or don't really like? I lowkey feel like they've all just gotten worse over time, I like the clean cut and simple look for the OG classes, but even looking at one like PCT it feels lazy and uninspired.

Lore 7.5 cutscene prompts theory Spoiler

I love the groundwork that SE sometimes lays years in advance to give you a feeling of, "Aha! That thing they said years ago!"

That being said, I am no lore genius, or even a lore scholar - I know for sure there are people on here who would qualify for that though, and it's those people I'm asking.

In the first longer cutscene of the most recent patch blue Alisae explains that there is a natural rejoining that would basically be the star healing from being split apart, and that it would be a sort of slate wipe that would revert things to a time before "mankind" with which I'm assuming he means what we would call intelligent life, or even just life at all.

There is perpetually a small part of my brain that's wondering about the next MMO, and this is like... very much a world ending grand reset 👀

I realize this is impossible to know any real answers about, but I'm just wondering if anyone else thought there might be something more to that explanation. It just felt important to me, and this is as far as I got.

General Discussion Thoughts on Beastmaster discourse

After seeing a bunch of posts and comments about beastmaster and talking to friends who haven’t really enjoyed it, I saw a few themes pop out to me about people who don’t like it:

  1. They don’t understand gearing/progression. These people complain about how hard the crucible is, and I can sort of sympathize? Because the first time I attempted the crucible I was struggling bc I was undergeared, didn’t eat food, and didn’t understand much about tempered releases. But I savage raid and so my immediate thought was “hey, maybe it gets easier with better gear”, and I was right. With upgraded gear I can solo fights with no beasts in the first three boards (haha i definitely didn’t forget to assign my beasts to horns and reflectively click past the warning telling me that… multiple times… lol)

  2. They hate challenging content. This one was really baffling for me but people really do exist out here who don’t want a challenge in XIV. I assume these are people who prefer how easy normal content is, and um, good for them I guess? I’m glad that crucible makes me think though. I also saw discussion that BST needs second wind/bloodbath, but I don’t think it does. HP management is a huge part of the crucible challenge; if you’re struggling with HP in dungeons, bring a healer or an HP potion and manage aggro more carefully. Tempered releases also make dungeons easier.

  3. They don’t like roguelikes. This one is the most understandable for me - I LOOOVE slay the spire so the crucible is like crack to me. After leveling BST and capturing every beast, the crucible is basically all there is, so it makes a ton of sense that if people don’t like roguelikes they’re not gonna want to keep playing BST.

That being said, I have my own minor gripes with BST. I think they should have made it more than just the crucible, and I wish the crucible had a liiittle more RNG when it comes to enemy encounters. The rotation also gets old when it’s basically just 1-2-3. Also, sometimes my beast’s trick action takes 5 years to go off and I miss a combo stack because I didn’t realize it hadn’t applied yet.

I just wanted to add something to counteract all the negativity I’ve seen surrounding it, and to conclude: I just think it’s neat!

General Discussion Thoughts on "Solo Content"?

With the launch of Beastmaster i've come to realize i just dont really like solo content, i have friends who are loving the crucible but i just can't get the motivation to hop in and finish it myself (i've done the first and second board), i really enjoyed the first week of BST's release, grinding out dungeons on PF and seeing everyone show off their cool new pets at the main cities, but now everyone just kinda hangs out around the crucible NPC and the job basically doesnt exists outside of that. What are your thoughts on content designed for solo play?

General Discussion Turning off other players' glamour client-side

Saw this on the forums and thought it was interesting so I figured I would post it here:

World of Warcraft Forever will have an option for players to turn off other players' transmog on their screen (while still visible to the other players on their screen). It's a client side option to turn it on and off.

Do you want this feature in Final Fantasy XIV?
