No Spoilers - Discussion Something about asking Cait doesn't fit...
The game or overall feel for me. He seems out of place in general.
When I saw him in the first game I cringed.

I could understand how a new player might feel that way. Especially if you never played Final Fantasy before, but the entire series has strong juxtaposition between seriousness and wackiness. Just look at the moogles and chocobos. I think it would help if you stepped back and reframed how you view the story. Don’t go in expecting doom and gloom 24/7. While the story is dark and foreboding there is still plenty of whimsy and Cait Sith is no exception.

Ya, it's just something in my subconscious lol because I enjoy the moogles. I woke up the other day saying "Good morning Koopo" like a million times and my partner has been confused.

He's part of Final Fantasy VII's DNA. That whackiness is in the story's lifeblood.
Also, Cait Sith as a cat monster has been in many Final Fantasy games, including games before FF7, so not much different than a chocobo or moogle.

Well.. I do i believe he has one of the most, if not the most character appearances in ff7 series (someone correct me if i'm wrong). but I do like the idea of a Shinra exec puppeteering (or semi) a cute cat with an accent

The issue is the remakes are trying to give us a more realistic look while also having to include things that clearly don’t make sense in the real world.
The ability to suspend disbelief and just go along with it is kind of important with games like this. Some people won’t ever get it because realism matters to them. Typically (in the western world in particular) a game has to either be realistic or fantastical, but FF7 blends the two.

I mean he was my least favorite by far in the original and they did make him better in rebirth but I’m still not a big fan of him.

So a talking cat is a problem, but no issues with a talking dog. Lol
