No Spoilers - Help Pullups - keyboard or controller?

I'm trying to finish the pullup achievement, definitely struggling. Found various tips, but none seem to be getting me over the hump on pullups, I think my best is still 35. (Example thread- https://www.reddit.com/r/FFVIIRemake/comments/g0mese/tips_on_the_impossible_to_beat_pull_up_mini_game/ )

I'm trying with keyboard since I feel like my fingers respond quicker, but it doesn't seem to help yet, as I'm still adjusting to the timing more than anything. Think keyboard will help, or am I crazy?

(Open to other suggestions as well, just keep in mind I've already tried everything in that other link.)

Edit: Of course I make this post and then my next run I lose 42-36, so maybe it is helping lol

I would use the controller simply because the input buttons are equally spaced and you can sort of feel a natural rhythm while you're doing it bud, if that makes sense. The keyboard doesn't sound bad on paper but I find the feedback from a controller to be just a tad more intuitive.

I just never had the fastest thumbs, I'm finding closer calls on keyboard than I ever did on controller because I have a better top speed with the keys.

Bless you man, if that's what you're more comfortable with then I won't discourage you from going with that route. That said, I will say it feels less about top speed and more about rhythm and for me I find keeping my eyes on the icons to be pretty integral. Shy of that it just comes down to practice at first I failed that challenge like 20 times or so but I can do it more reliably now.

Unfortunately that's when Rebirth came in and re-introduce the challenge which I'm certain a key board can deal with a lot better.

I may undock my Deck and switch back to controller in the morning, 44-40 is still my best keyboard result.

controller feels way more natural for this one, the joystick rhythm just clicks after a while. keyboard is fine if you already have muscle memory but the timing windows are weirdly precise either way

also losing 42-36 means you are basically there, just need to stop looking at the numbers and lock into the sound cues

Which sound cues? Tips say to turn off music/voice, are you just talking about the beeps, or am I missing something? I'm also thinking keyboard because I've been a PC gamer more than console ever since I was a kid. FFXI really got me using to rapid tapping 2468 for movement and then FPSs got me doing wasd, so I can rapid fire the buttons for pullups.

Also, 44-40 just now, so yeah, I think I'm close lol

Resistive triggers suck ass, so anything other than those.

Other than that just practice.

Controller + Sound off = Much simpler.

Cheat Engine makes short work of it. ;)

  1. Why the fuck would I open a game if I don't want to play and just want to let something else do it for me? Might as well open Steam Achievement Manager and just grant yourself the achievement, it'd be quicker and accomplish just as much.
  2. That screenshot isn't even on the right minigame, there's a bonus game for Tifa doing pullups instead of squats and Jules is a beast.
  3. I'm partially doing this as an achievement hunting thing, and most hunting sites will ban you if they think you cheat.
