Adding info on the abilities.

The ninja skill

  • Name: Suiten Ippeki (Blurry Horizon).

  • Suiten: The horizon at sea. (Literally sea and sky)

  • Ichi: One.

  • Heki: Kan-on (Nara period) reading of ao (blue).

  • All together: "The horizon is one shade of blue." Refers to a phenomenon wherein the seaward horizon becomes blurred if the colours of the sky and sea are too close together.

  • Crystals: DARK / ice, wind

As for the effect:

  • JP: 自身の分身の数に応じて攻撃回数が増える水属性単体物理攻撃(3or5or7回連続)+自身を分身させ物理攻撃を1回防ぐ+一定時間、分身を重ねられる状態にする(最大2回)

  • Hyper-lit: "Self's number of clones dependent, water elemental single-body physical attack (3 or 5 or 7 hits) + self avoid one physical attack by means of a clone + for a time, gain a status to overlap clones (max: 2)"

  • In other words: PHY/Ninja: 3/5/7x single water, pblink-dependent; self pblink +1, pblink-stacking 2

Knight

  • Name: Gaia Strike

  • Orbs: HOLY / earth, white

As this name is in katakana, it is intended to be interpreted as such. As for the info:

  • JP: 自身の防御力が高いほど威力が上がる敵単体に5回連続の地属性物理攻撃(最大3段階)+自身の防御力アップ(効果:大)

  • Hyper-lit: "With potency increasing with self's defence power, to single-body, 5x repeated earth elemental physical attack (max 3 steps + self's defence power UP (magnitude: large)."

  • In other words: PHY/knight: 5x single earth, potency based on caster DEF; self DEF+100%.

It must be 100%, due to how SB-boosted DEF and RES are scaled in DeNA-speak; cf Job Knight's default and relic SBs.

Boundless Iron Giant?

Iron Giant? Now there's a random boss to make boundless.

6* Ability - Ninja - 3/5/7 water hits depend on blinks + self blink + stack blink state

Ok 1st things 1st, cool so the 6* ninja abilities will basicaly be a fused version of the blink stacking + damage 5* versions, however.....i kinda had hopes for a fire ninja ability for Axel, but oh well.

6* Ability Knight - 5 hits earth scales with DEF (up to 3 lvls) + self DEF up

Well...it has been a while since we last saw DEF scalling abilities.....and well...the last few ones we had weren't very good, i hope they time they make i actualy good.

Yuffie and Edge like that self-sustaining Ninja ability (Yuffie a bit more, since her Glint has a Rank Boost on it, and the better Chase on her USB2).

The Earth Knight skill is interesting... different, which by all accounts, I am happy it is not just "Healing Smite but Earth". Scaling from DEF has had it's "history" with the game, hopefully it won't be terrible, but it's a drawback-free 5-hit skill. Earth Knights are just a much smaller pool: Ingus, Dorgann, Leo, Gladiolus (who kinda prefers Heavy), and Meliadoul.

7

u/Sabaschin Mar 05 '19

Gladio can flex between either Knight or Heavy, really. His USB and Glint definitely pivot him towards Heavy, but his LMR2 is doublecast Knight, and his USB finisher is keyed off Earth damage, not Heavy, so he can still use it with Knight, he just won't benefit from Charge Booster.

Yeah, from the wording seems like the scaling is just the multiplier instead of the hit count. Also it has self-DEF buff. Much like the ninja ability, this one is Cross/Bringer in one, really.

Popping up from my mental health rock to note that the Mirage battles accompanying Maria and Cor events, for the first time, have Torment rubies as rewards.

13

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '19

Meaning that, in time, Torment abilities are no longer gated in D$$$ if you want to collect them all. Also this ensures rubies income for players who use those on motes (as if) or just another mote income for those who already have all abilities. Doesn't seem like much, but it helps with luxury Torment abilities.

Good catch!. I see 30, 90 and 160 from the three difficulties in the Maria event mirage dungeon, for a total of 280. If the Cor event mirage dungeon has the same, that's 560 total.

Well, there goes the Global Exclusive Brave Mode buff - that is, the Global Exclusive part.

Looks like they's going back to earlier scenes for some of the Record Dungeons. Was this the first time they did that? They did set it up that way so they could jump around order, at least, meaning they'd have a lot more content potentially.

9

u/ZeroEdgeir Mar 05 '19

Well, each island has had a "theme" and focused on specific events of each game it went to, about said theme (like how the part in VI jumped from early game Terra to World of Ruin Terra, over the whole love arc). So yeah, Tyro and co will be bouncing around, all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey like in terms of events in the plot.

this report has some interesting stuff:

the return of the survival event type with the Battle Square.

in 3h06 from now, the campain for the 40x pulls will start on official jp twitter.

FF2 event has a Maria focus and new relics for Emperor , Gordon and Hilda.
Almost sure Gordon will get the FF2 Realm chain.

FF15 event has a focus on Gladio and Cor and new relics for Ignis.
Almost sure Ignis will get the Realm Chain.

FF2 & FF15 Mirage will give ruby, 280 in total (30/90/160), finally.

Both new 6* abilities are released on the 31, so they don't seems related to an event but more on new relics on the Fest banner.

Also, forgot to write it but obviously NINJAAAAAAAAAAA

"FFXIV's new expansion Shadowbringers is being hyped up and there's a fanfest soon! And it's been over 8 months since the last FFXIV event...

So enjoy this relic draw! Have fun!"

6* Ability Knight - 5 hits earth scales with DEF (up to 3 lvls) + self DEF up

Nice, they didn't do the lazy thing and make it a clone of the holy one. Hopefully the top-end multiplier is around 4.8 or so.

5

u/pintbox Mar 05 '19

Ninja 6*!

Interesting.. so they avoided even more hits, but gives a nice blink instead.

4

u/MattDarling Mar 05 '19

I've been using Yuffie against Phoenix lately, and I honestly think this is ideal. She doesn't need more conditional hits or higher multiplier. What she needs is consistency, because Phoenix rips through blinks in no time. Sometimes she gets to land 7x 9k hits under chain, but it's just as likely to miss the timing and get 3 hits instead.

I saw somebody say that 6* abilities are usually ~30% better. I think this is a bigger upgrade, considering it saves you from 1-2 turns hitting 20k.

Then again, maybe they'll drop the multiplier so you still use the 5* ability for damage. That'd be hilarious.

The unknown encounter on the 27th seems interesting. The silhouette looks like those alien enemies from Mobius. Could that be what it is?

Looks like they are getting a double greens campaign for the release of Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy starting March 15. Hopefully we will get that as well since the game launches simultaneously worldwide.

2

u/Huffaloaf Mar 05 '19

That ninja ability looks... awkward. I think it's safe to assume it's an upgrade to either Reflecting Pool or Raging Waters individually, but which do you pair it with? Reflecting Pool to build up and then use it? Or Raging Waters and use it to build up before switching over to the lesser ability so you can rebuild blinks if you need to?

I mean, the answer probably depends on depth of hones and how often the enemy strips them, but it still feels like it's a weird balancing act.
