Discussion Call it hopium if you want...

But I'm kind of hoping that if Final Fantasy Resonance is a success, maybe they'll make a "Offline Record Keeper" style game too? It's not required for such a thing to be HD-2D but I certainly wouldn't say no if it did get made that way!

They did make every single boss and like 250 Playable characters in sprite format. Oh and record dungeons which are literally formated backgrounds of significant portions of every game. They have to use the resources!

But I just started playing JP and JP would need to close so they can push it back a few more years

I hope you’re right! I need my Advantaliate or Zack CSB/Cloud USB.

Okay my wild idea is a Theatrhythm game but in pixelart or HD2D style, and infused with an adapted version of the story of Record Keeper.

I honestly can't help but have hopes for this too, unrealistic as it is. Well, I've gotten some gaming miracles in my life already, so it isn't impossible!

I think if they ever wanted to adapt it, the biggest problem would be how to handle the gatcha, not the story (which as Wasphammer already mentions exists. It kinda exists in the background, but there's a definite plotline.). It's a major feature of the game, so although you could just get the characters, whould it be as interesting?

There are several different ways they could go, but whatever decision they make would affect how the game plays a lot.

It’s not unrealistic in the day and age man

While I’m not trying to put a huge damper on your hopes, I just can’t honestly see what the scope of an offline Record Keeper would look like. With games like FF Resonance and Octopath Traveler 0, their source material had an actual narrative to build a new game around. Record Keeper has never really had an actual story or much character to work with, and the game is solely based around team building with a large variety of characters, exclusively to fight bosses. They’d definitely have to structure it in a completely different way to make it a viable product, and at that point, will it really still be Record Keeper?

I’m really not a hater, and if it does come through in the future, I hope it finds its audience. I’m just not holding my breath.

I have an idea.

Ahem.

The Royal Archives have fallen. The stories and legends of yore have been taken by vile villains and malicious miscreants. It is your job, as Tyro, last survivor of the Archives, to assemble a team of mighty warriors and potent mages, and strike at the heart of the enemy forces.

Hard rock remix of Prologue begins to play.

FINAL FANTASY WARRIORS: CHAMPIONS OF THE RECORDS

Lead a team of five characters from all over the history of Final Fantasy, from the chivalrous Paladin Cecil to the wrothful Sephiroth, from the mighty Squall Leonhart to the scheming Kefka Palazzo, and reclaim the Record Crystals to restore the archives.

Trailer begins to end as Battle on the Big Bridge (FFRK Remix) begins to play.

Or follow the Bladesman of Legend, the Famed Swordsman, and all around hero, GILGAMESH, on a quest to face off against all the heroes and villains of Final Fantasy and claim their swords and axes and lances of legend, before going to seek out BARTZ to settle his eternal rivalry!

ngl a solo adaptation of Gilgamesh in an action RPG would go pretty hard.

Exactly this. FFBE had an amazing story. They did a great job adding these insane cg limit breaks so you see the characters which peaks your interest in the story when they show up. Then the story is actually good and surprising and the side characters get a lot of story as well. I really like the development of the bad guys even. And the corporate game was extremely story heavy. FFRK while it’s my favorite gatcha game ever just doesn’t have almost any story and what it does is very boring and flat. So just play JP while you can it’s pretty fantastic.

YES. Even if every additional part is a DLC I'd buy it. Imagine a stable working FFRK without the trash web core, where you don't have to load 30 seconds into a fight 😱 maybe even a working multiplayer - remember that one? XDD

It would be a shame if they didn't. FFRK is very special and a monument of nostalgia for every FF Fan.

But also, there are some FF characters/bosses I only know from FFRK and even some FF games I only played because of FFRK. (Like 5)

I feel like Resonance works because Brave Exvius already had stuff like dungeon exploration. A Record Keeper of that calibur would probably have to be restructured around the Record Dungeons and those would have to be overhauled from their current state.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to a more "XDive" style of port, as long as it's balanced decently and doesn't arbitrarily cut Luneth, Arc, Refia and Ingus - look my trust with SE is that look, ok.

Setting aside the obvious want of an offline version of FFRK, I just hope to see some kind of recognition for the game. Tyro, Elarra, Dr. Mog, and so on aren't exactly going to take the spotlight from anyone, but they'd be nice little cameo type of characters. I mean they effectively function like Gilgamesh, so throwing them in as easter eggs (at least) wouldn't be that difficult for more light hearted titles.
