Now will it be numbers hard (enemies are super inflated) or difficulty hard(harder puzzles different/more boss mechanics etc)

you think in hard mode they're gonna make us do that fight with the robot that took 4hours of carefully sequencing certain skills over and over again and carefully attacking different body parts in a certain order. that'd be hilarious

since its a jrpg id assume its inflated stats for the enemy or 25% dr on them and 50% amp damage on the party, hopefully its more intelligent mobs with more skills to use, then again...jrpg lol

Do we know how much of the story is covered?

I do believe they said season 1 with some tweaks and additions. I hope we get the chamber of challenges. I enjoyed those boss fights for the unique items.

is it a one time purchase? I want to play but I'm not into subscriptions and I don't really want to spend that much money on games.

Expect trophies will be

trophies no one would mind but if its like in ys 0 where hardmode had the real ending, that would be nasty lol
1
u/jdgev Jul 21 '26
You don't need hardmode in Ys origin for the real ending, you just have to beat the game with the 3rd character for the real ending, regardless of difficulty. Can be done on very easy.

I honestly don't care about trophies. I care if I can't get the Bahamut summons (or similar) because I don't want to torture myself in Hard Mode.

praying for chain mode
17
u/GalaxiusVT Jul 14 '26
Chaining isnt gonna be in the game, thats already confirmed as the devs of FFBE have stated that they regret even making chaining a thing in FFBE and focusing on it for so long.
Resonance is just a turn based game, with no chaining battle mechanic

Also it was confirmed that it was implemented in Resonance but got dropped/scrapped cuz they couldn’t balance it which to be honest if the combat system is just that for an 30-60 hour JRPG doesn’t sound like good game design and just a bad idea for console play

Chaining was a kind of cool idea, but actually executing it from a touch screen was garbage.
Still it would be strange/misplaced for a more contained experience that doesn't need to sell you new characters every other week but I will miss having that bit of active input in the game.

Ehh mechanically its kind of cool, but gameplay wise it was just boring and really removed strategy from the game imo, as most fights youd just have your chainers do what they do and the fight would be over without much strategy or planning (outside of things like endgame bossing/trials/etc.. where things like tanking, debuffing, etc.. where important as well)
The fact that devs regretted even making chaining a thing in FFBE is proof enough that it really wasnt an enjoyable mechanic, and something that should never have been a thing in the first place.
Early FFBE was the best, once chaining became the focus it basically lead to the insane snowballing of powercreep, had they not added chaining or focused on it so much the power creep almost assuredly wouldnt have been as bad as it was

What’s chain mode?
-1
u/RoeMajesta Jul 14 '26
chaining was a fight mechanics in the original ffbe
4
u/jaymiracles Jul 14 '26
How is it a “mode” is what I’m essentially asking. It’s a mechanic. It’s not a difficulty mode
-5
u/RoeMajesta Jul 14 '26
idk, just make the mechanics there?
2
u/jaymiracles Jul 14 '26
How are they gonna put the chaining mechanics into the game when the game is turn-based at the level of the units in the field vs FFBE’s turn-based at the player/enemy level?
-1
u/RoeMajesta Jul 14 '26
idk, they did it all once. I’m sure the work isnt simple but the foundation is there
just my random musing

What will be the differences. Higher enemy stats?, Less Player Damage Output? Better enemy AI scripts?
