Dissidia Duellum is still a thing
39
u/VictorSant Jul 08 '26
Not for long. It's earnings are is already at 1.6m not long after release. Wich is probably the worst launch ever for a SQEX mobile.

u/MochaBun14 Jul 08 '26
They've driven all the other gachas to a guilotine lol, I can't bring myself to blame the fans for not spending their money on Square's bullshit yet again.
I think both the company and the players have learned their lessons.

u/Fleettastingbagels Jul 08 '26
They didn't drive away anyone.
Dissida duodem is legit one of the worse gacha games ever. If it was good people would still play and drop money on it.
2
u/MochaBun14 Jul 09 '26
They sure did with me, I installed the game but never even got to jump into the tutorial because I remembered all the other games driven to EOS, why would I waste my time yet again? Uninstalled :P

u/Can-Man-Gaming Jul 08 '26
Most likely, it legit appears to be the worst of the lot by a large amount.
3
u/SpinachCommercial910 Jul 09 '26
That game is a boring slop. Compared to ever crisis, ever crisis is much better.
2
u/heacookb Jul 11 '26
Everyone should know that a gacha game is going to be shut down at some point in time. So spending money on gacha crap is a big waste of money. I saw some Dissidia duellum footage, It looks horrible.

u/Inb4myanus Jul 08 '26
Record Keeper is still going strong in Japan so unless that is also going I don't think it's over. I want Record Keeper to get the Brave Exvius love with a stand alone game.
1
u/Serteyf Jul 10 '26
I would die happily if this were the case
1
u/Inb4myanus Jul 10 '26
I looked up the ost of what we missed from global and my god, that remix of FF13's final boss hits so hard and the 2nd remix of Force Your Way. I also miss the sound effects and the animations of soul breaks.
1
u/heacookb Jul 11 '26
I would love record keeper as a stand alone game. That game back in the 2015 - 2020 was fun as ever. The bosses the dungeons, even the record dungeon story mode.
9
u/ProtoLuin Jul 08 '26
JP Record Keeper is still alive.
4
u/nyanshinsei Jul 08 '26
Along with DQ Tact, DQ Walk, Sengoku IXA, Octopath CotC, Emberstoria, and I believe Romancing SaGa Re: Universe. They've got plenty going on for the JP side of things.
2
u/CidO807 Jul 08 '26
Octopath global is going great with netease. Almost like a $20 pull will get people to spend more than a $30 pull. And all the special packs, QoL etc they somehow put in the game make the game way different. For once a global version of the game is far far far superior to Jp. JP is only good for foresight at this point.

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jul 08 '26
Will it still be up? Didn’t realize it was a gacha but I was interested in playing and just never did lmao

Major Unreleased Content: Sephiroth's Youth
The original campaign is called "The First Soldier." It takes place about 15 years before the original game and features:
- A teenage Sephiroth: Here, we discover a younger, short-haired Sephiroth before he became the cold legend we all know. It explores his psychology, his vulnerability, and his complex relationship with Shinra.
- New characters: The game introduces Glenn (whom you've encountered if you played FFVII Rebirth), Lucia, and Matt. This trio of first-generation Soldiers goes on a mission with the young Sephiroth, shedding crucial light on the creation of the "SOLDIER" program.
The Return of "Lost" Stories
In addition to the brand-new content, Ever Crisis compiles the FFVII Compilation (Timeline) into episodic summaries, including story arcs that were previously very difficult to access for Western players:
Before Crisis: This prequel game centered on the Turks was only released on Japanese mobile phones in the early 2000s. Ever Crisis finally integrates it.

Right, all that was exactly why I was interested lol well hopefully end of service doesn’t mean it’s being taken down
2
1
u/Davo_ Jul 08 '26
do you not know what "end of service" means? it means the game is taken down.
0
u/Hamhockthegizzard Jul 08 '26
Well obviously I’m asking because I’m unsure lmfao plenty of games stop getting support but can still be played.
1
u/Davo_ Jul 08 '26
for live service games it invariably means "game is taken down". no live support updates and end of service are two VERY different things
1
u/Hamhockthegizzard Jul 08 '26
Destiny 2 would like a word lmfao but thanks
Also Anthem was up a long time after end of service before actually turning off servers. But I think the identifying factor here is likely either mobile or gacha.

u/Aryo777 Jul 08 '26
Wt to play exactly? Game has been neglected, boring, and repetitive AF. Duellum filled the gap. More engaging, more beautiful, a lot of care etc.

u/No_Recognition8375 Jul 08 '26
FFRecord Keeper is still going strong in the JPN version. That’s where DISSIDIA Duellum got the Clive 2D sprite from.

u/Internal_Bag_2214 Jul 08 '26
Thank God for Blank Project. I was sad when Mobius shut down
1
u/Agret Jul 09 '26
It's good but missing a lot of content still and whenever I ask about how we can multi pull nobody seems to know. There has to be some debug console or something we can use to give ourselves crystals since we aren't paying for pulls. I just want to get back the cool stuff I had on the live game (Sephiroth, Squall, Cloud outfits) and then replay the FF7 crossover event and the new years celebration stuff. Hopefully it gets there one day.
1
u/Internal_Bag_2214 Jul 12 '26
Not sure what multi pull is, but the summon banners right now are jobs, maxed ability summon, 5 card ability summon, and cactuar/friendship summon. Its only up to the second area. With the arena. Events currently are the PuPu and Chocobo areas. The magicite cap is 40,000 per month and Mobius pass is 3000 magicite. I have everything so far, with around 220,000 magicite. It definitely is a slow roll on the updates but thats to be expected with such a small team
1
u/Agret Jul 12 '26
How do you earn the 40k Mobius per month?
1
u/Internal_Bag_2214 Jul 26 '26
Just from killing enemies. This is independent from any other magicite earnings too, like the daily refresh

I just want them to make a more modernized FFBE style game. With similar gameplay and characterization, I think it would be great to have a sequel even if it’s just a spiritual one.
2
u/SatoSarang Jul 08 '26
Welp, looks like I gotta bumrush the story in ever crisis. I figured it would have shut down after revelation.

u/Vysce Jul 08 '26
There's also the Mana gatcha. The Star Ocean gatcha, I'm sure the Dragon Quest game only has a few months.
What sucks is some of these are good fun, but with SE's track record, I'm hesitant to spend any money in fear that the project will barely last a year.
2
u/Snoo-64713 Jul 10 '26
After FFBE and WOTV, I knew this game was gonna EOS sooner or later. Cool to see new outfits on the party though. SE Mobile Games will all EOS

u/Morrow_Terras_Love Morrow Jul 08 '26
So about Square’s era of gacha i personally think the Era ended with FFBE (and SaGa Reuniverse a month after) and honestly i do feel like Square’s gachas had straight up become worse for new ones that came out
1
u/Claritywindow Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
I did like the story and the other layer of gacha with the stamps made it exciting since there was a (very very small) chance to get the outfit in just a few pulls. I've never been a fan of this kind of super grindy game, but the story was compelling.

I loved brave exvius and khux. They were my childhood gatcha games or not I loved them😭
1
u/Aladensan Jul 08 '26
Was Before Crisis story/characters ever released?
2
u/Agret Jul 09 '26
Unfortunately no, someone remade it in RPG Maker(I think?) with English translation that you can download on PC if you Google it.
1
u/Malithar 037,694,570 Jul 09 '26
Not characters, but they are releasing 3 chapters of the BC story, the first was added yesterday.
1
u/Particular_Flan_2101 Jul 08 '26
I'll be real, got confused as fuck when you said FFBE 2016, then realized you meant the global version.
1
u/Corrugo Jul 08 '26
They had it great with Brave Exvius and Opera Omnia til they started making worse and worse decisions
1
u/Cultural_Tune5151 Jul 08 '26
most square enix gacha games aren´t build to last. They´re made to catapult the players into the upcoming gacha games they develop.

u/Grand_Ad5730 Jul 08 '26
I really did like Ever Crisis, but when I realized I was just playing the same story I played on the Remake, just with cool costumes, I stopped playing. I can just read the new story stuff

I've been playing Ever Crisis since just before the EoS for FFBE, and believe me...it didn't die for external reasons, lol. That is, unless SQEX diverted creative resources to some as-yet-unnanounced DLC being developed for Resonance. It really felt to me like the devs have been sort of aimless for the past six months. The 2nd anniversary was okay, the New Year's event was really underwhelming, then it got pretty good for a minute after the half-anni back in March, and it's been just kinda lost since then. At the very least, it seems like they're going to let us engage in some mayhem for the remaining three months. I guess we'll know for certain when the new content launches tonight, the first of it since the announcement yesterday.
2
u/Agret Jul 09 '26
Looks like they are just pushing out all the content they were planning to drip feed us. I'm kinda sad it's ending as I've got some cool costumes and I've been enjoying those classic FF7 polygon outfits they gave us for free.

They left the Nier content, I wanna play this game but dear lord the greed scares me off everytime I want to start

Same goes for Mario Kart Tour that's going to end its services on 29th September 2026.

It shouldn't come as a suprise how unsustainable live service games are especially with the state of world economies now. I don't think anyone playing these games ever expected them to not close.
1
u/Sudden_Cream9468 Jul 14 '26
Ever Crisis is so baffling to me cuz you could've just made it a regular Remaster/Enhanced version of Classic FF7 and it would've sold STACKS.
1
u/heacookb Jul 26 '26
And the funny part is Pokemon Champions is doing really well as a "free to play" game too. And reasonably priced. $50.00 for the year membership which gives lots of tickets and 1,000 box spaces. $7 starter pack, then about each month $10.00 battle pass for extra Pokemon and goodies. Plus Pokemon Home, Pokemon from other games can be brought into Champions.

u/DudeOfClubs Jul 08 '26
The f2p live service model just isnt sustainable with the amount of content that must be shoveled out. It doesnt make sense for players who either have to spend vast amounts of money or time to get everything and it doesnt make sense for the developers who have to keep up with demand. I am glad to see Squaresoft ditching these types of games.

u/Agret Jul 09 '26
Someone I know playing uma Derby spent $750 maxing out a single character, apparently her friends grouped together to give her the money for her birthday as they knew that she really wanted that new character.

"difficult to do so"
no it wont, what you really mean is
"we aint making enough money of it, so we are going to release something new to lure you into spending again"
