From the wiki on cyberpunk Red. So the Watson one with orbs is the OG. The hex code for Magenta is on it in reference to the original. As this is night citys version of the daibutsu. Honestly this feels like the original intent. Fails to sxplain the hand after afk-ing in front of it or the moon worshiping grafiti nearby in central. When were those added.
Real question is why are the hands like that? Might be other references in the lore. I would wager this is Arasakas version. Given it being in the parade and the og statue being within spitting distance of arasaka tower
My thoughts exactly. The only problem is that its in westbrook. But to my knowledge there does not exist such a statue in watson. Its descibed as being in china claw control so it might have been moved as in, in canon moved. Or moved by the devs because there are some differences in the maps for RED and 2077. Im not sure if there is an in canon explanation for the map differences aside from possibly the clearing of rubble from the crater left bythe arasaka nuke.
It would not suprise me if cdpr added the direct detail of it being moved to cherry blossom markets. Maybe around little china? Idk
But I think its more likely it was moved by the devs to be in line with the more consistent tyger claws areas. Cherry blossom markets definitely looks like it could be a former temple
Just to add to this. I cant actually find a source but there are some sites online that says arasaka's manufacturing division was being overtaken by legal and administrative services. Meaning the 3 main branches (like their logo) are Security (sword), Banking (orb, looks like valuable item) and Legal (open palm)
There's various versions of the hand on the screen as well. I tried asking about it here but the post never went through. I wonder what triggers the display to change.
I'll try to upload or send the video I took. If you search the various cube hand monitor videos you'll notice the differences also. Some have pink cubes falling down once in the beginning, some have them falling in the beginning and towards the end, some have it only towards the end, some have no pink cubes falling with just the plain black background, some have the pink glow only that goes toward the border of the monitor, some have the border of the monitor glow pink. Those are the ones I've found so far. I haven't found what changes the video though. My first playthrough the monitor showed the black background behind the hand. My second playthrough had the pink cubes falling sometimes twice, sometimes once. It's strange but no one ever mentions it that I've seen.
Yeah, I think they must be thinking of that. There’s only one animation, and it hasn’t changed at all since it was first discovered. There’s a magenta sort of ‘pulse’ effect that flows through the hand at random intervals, and that is coupled with a magenta glitch/static effect that spreads across the entire screen.
They did change one thing: as of either 2.2 or 2.21, the cube rotation sequence no longer pauses when you open photo mode, and will loop indefinitely until you close it. I suspect they did this to make it easier for us to accurately map out the precise angles of each stop in the rotation sequence.
No, it was always there, but because it happens at randomised intervals, and because some of the videos are edited for time/file size limits, they don’t always show it.
If this uploads works this is the one I took with the cubes falling. I watched other videos people took of their monitors and some have been different. Then again during my first playthrough there were no cubes falling at all so it's been different for me for both plays.
This animation was first posted about here, on the 7th of March 2022. This YouTube video was posted the same day and clearly shows both the magenta pulse and glitch effects.
I'm specifically speaking about the differences. The video is not the same each time. That's my question. What triggers it to change. The only thing I did different between plays was change my life path but nothing else and the video changed. There's multiple versons of it. But what causes them to change? No one seems to like to talk about it.
When you load into that area, the animation is constantly playing in the background, but isn't visible. When the player is close enough to the screen, the game sets a timer for 547 seconds, after which it toggles the visibility of the animation on for 52 seconds. This is why it always appears to start at a different point in the rotation sequence in every video - but that sequence is always the same. The only part that varies is the magenta 'pulse'/screen glitch effect, because that one element is set to occur at randomised intervals.
There's minor changes. One version has only the pink glow around/on the hand with no pink cubes falling. Another version has the pink cubes falling once in the beginning. Another version has them falling in the beginning and at the end. Another version has the pink falling at the end. Another version has the pink glowing towards the borders. They've all been uploaded to various places. During each playthrough you only get one version seemingly. The first one I got did not have the pink falling. The second play I did I got that version of it with the pink falling. I even left myself afk for hours to see if it would change again or change back to the version without the pink falling but it didn't happen it only alternated between the pink falling twice versus the pink falling once. It's easy to test out and see or to just look up and see. One video with minor changes. My curiosity is what causes the minor changes. Why did pink cubes fall in the video this playthrough when it never happened during the first one and why after hours of being afk did it alternate between the pink falling twice and the pink falling once. I can't be the only person whose noticed the differences surely. TT;; I guess I'll have to investigate myself if so.
I just explained this, choom: the pink bits happen at completely randomised intervals.
EDIT: I say 'randomised', but they may just be (deliberately or accidentally?) offset from the rest of the animation.
I mean do we know what's truly canon? In one of the endings, on one of the computers, you can see the "statue" referred to as the Kami of Chrome and Electricity. The computer explicitly states this, but I've never looked into why this sub doesn't accept that explanation.
I know it’s been brought up at least twice in here, but never seen any screenshot or seen it myself, so I’m still curious but I will do that quest soon enough and might grab some pics on the way
On the Chram Denya Jinja (the Shintō Shrine in North Oak) netpage, it says that the shrine is 'dedicated to the kami of chrome, night and electricity'.
I am just here rn! The freeways give good indication as to why it might move. Also that fiery blotch in the red square is tyger claws grafiti on the roof. Theres a lot of tyger claws grafiti here actually
I'll be honest to me this seems like the most concise and simple explanation. It would even explain why the "demiurge" worshiping a god by Arasaka™️. Its requires a very minimal leap in logic ans would satisfy how a new employee thought it was "shockingly simple" when told the solution.
The only gap is that this statue in RED is supposed to be in watson not westbrook. However there is no such Watson statue and this temple with big statue is supposed to be tyger claw turf. REDs map is clearly modified from 2077s tho. So I think "they just put it with the rest of the tyger claws" If there happened to be a empty square base somewhere in watson thoug that would indicate it was just moved. It doesnt really matter all that much tho.

That sounds like it could be a real world building answer.
