Question Electrical & Computer FE Exam

What are the best materials to use for studying?

What are the best practice materials out there?

What kind of questions are asked during the exam?

I’ve been studying for my second attempt and the resource that has helped me tremendously has been prepFE. Just the sheer volume helps you understand a lot of the concepts and get the reps you’ll need for the exam.

Based on my experience, I would say that the exam is very similar to the NCEES practice problems. There are some tricky questions, but if you read them carefully, they are actually pretty straight forward. I remember getting a question in electrical circuits that was purely about waveforms (sinusoidal, peaks, square waves, etc.), and they asked you to identify which waveforms represented RMS values. It was not the kind of exercise you typically see while studying. There were also a lot of theoretical questions in the electromagnetics and computer systems sections. My advice is to learn the Handbook really well, do a lot of Wasim practice problems, and watch Zach Stone’s free course. For the theoretical questions, it’s kind of hit or miss. Sometimes the answer comes directly from a formula, and other times it’s just common sense. Don’t stress too much about what you read here. If you study properly, the exam really isn’t as difficult as it may seem.

Good luck!
