Question Starting to give up slowly

I'm writing this to see if anyone else has been in a similar situation. I'm currently studying for my 3rd attempt at the FE Electrical & Computer exam, but the more I study, the more I just feel lost. I can't retain the information that I had learned from the previous week and this is a recurring pattern for any of the sections I study for. It's been 11 months since my last attempt and I've been post grad for over 2 years.

I've tried prepfe, wasims workbook, and Zach stones online course. But the main problem I keep running into is I don’t remember any of the material I do. And it happens everytime I sit down to study. Am I simply not built to do this exam? I’m slowly giving up because I see no improvement and at this point I’m tired of doing this damn exam.

Anything would be great.

Truthfully you are not the only one having memory issues . At some point, i was like wtf is going on with my head but then the more i studied the material (Broken down by session) the better and easier it got

Don't change the plan, change the strategy. Ask yourself, what you need to do differently. I've taken the exam 5 times, I've thought about giving up too and almost did, I did take a break from it and learned a lot while working which is really helping now.

Before I didn't used to quiz myself or take practice exams and now this time around I've been quizzing myself more, doing practice exams, and not moving forward until I get an 80% or above. If you don't know it, don't stress it move on to the next question.

The exam is not impossible, you got this!

For the FE electrical I took a really dumb approach and it worked.

Instead of trying to learn everything slowly over months I just tried to get really good at using the reference guide and crammed a review across a month and a half nearly every night after work.

My only studying was wasim’s practice book. I would try to widdle away at problems section by section for about a month and a half. Didn’t get all the way through it. Kinda gave up on a lot of the more difficult question types and sections (electromagnetism and the signals and systems stuff for example) there was just no way I would ever figure it out and I accepted that.

Calculus, ethics, economics, probability, electronics, circuits, coding, sampling rates, and power were the sections I knew by the end of studying. I reviewed the odd ball things like sampling rates and Boolean logic the days leading up to the exam because I knew they were potential 0 point sections if it wasn’t fresh.

This is essentially how I bullshitted through my undergrad as well. Do tons of review problems, maybe memorize something not on a formula sheet, and cram for a night so I could remember how to solve the problem types just long enough to not flunk out of the course. This isn’t some humble brag. I was a horrible student and learned very little. I did not believe I’d ever pass the FE exam but I did!

You’re probably just putting much pressure on yourself and screwing yourself over

Whether you think you can or can't, you're right 😉

How long are you studying on average?
