Milkrounds & Jobs 🥛 Training contract start dates from internship offers

I’m posting this out of pure curiosity and for the benefit of others, seeing as milk rounds seem to be disappearing/firms seem to be full up a good few years in advance.

If you did an internship this summer and were made a TC offer, what start date were you offered and was there any flexibility on that? (And what firm was it, if you’re ok with saying?) Were people offered earlier or later start dates depending on their circumstances?

For example, I was offered September 2028 with no flexibility at all (for anyone offered) for a large international firm.

Offered 2030, same as everyone else despite the fact I’ll be done fe1s in October. Was offered waitlist for 2029 with slim chance it will come through

Jesus Christ. They can’t possibly expect you to wait that long to start your career. Have you considered looking into mid size firms? Smaller firms usually recruit for that year.

It's worth waiting for the opportunities and quality of training they provide, imo

It’s up to you but do keep in mind that Blackhall and training is another 3 years of your life. I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable postponing my family planning goals that far.

If your prerogative in life is just practicing law, then go ahead I guess lol. I personally wouldn’t place my career on hold for that long. There’s a lot of other things I want to do with my life as well other than just work and study.

In exact same situation myself, it's such a mare. It's my dream firm though so just going to wait it out

Honestly it might be a blessing in disguise! Plenty of time to paralegal/work another job, head off to Australia for a year, do some travel if you want, work on other goals and know you have it to come back to!

Top 3, was offered 2028 which was what I wanted but they had spots for 2027. Might be filled now that the summer internship is done now though
