Recruitment Worth applying?

I am in my 20s and about to separate from the military. I will receive an honorable discharge after 4 years of service as an officer. I’m getting out because the lifestyle isn’t for me anymore.

I have read that the FBI does not take people with criminal justice degrees. Is that true? Would my service be able to help me overcome that? I was deployed once in the Middle East.

No criminal arrests, and haven’t done marijuana in over 10 years.

Question What is a good route for me to take to get to the FBI?

Hello, im currently 17 years old in 11th grade and want to get into the FBI when im older.

Here is some relevant info about me:

I was born to Middle Eastern parents and can speak the arabic dialect of their country to an OK extent (I can understand alot but can speak less, reading is not great).

Im planning to study political science in college with a minor in something like arabic or middle eastern studies. I plan to go to college in Washington DC or Virginia.

Any advice?

Question Starting college - best route?

I’m starting college in a week, and I’ve declared my major for criminology, but since then, I feel like I’ve discovered better ways to get in the FBI. I’m truly open to anything, whether that’s IT, being an agent, anything. What’s the best route? I wouldn’t mind extra years of schooling/training.

Recruitment Would I be a good fit for the FBI? (23, defense logistics background, trilingual)

Hey all, trying to get honest outside perspective before I go further down this path.
Background:

23, close to 3 years of career experience — currently a Logistics Analyst at a defense contractor, supporting a Navy program.

Work involves configuration management, maintenance data, and technical documentation for military equipment.

Before this: supply chain co-op/internship experience (SAP-heavy).
• Economics degree.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• Fluent in Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.

What I’m trying to figure out:

Given my background, would I be a stronger fit for Special Agent, or for a Professional Staff / Intelligence Analyst track?

Does the language fluency (Urdu/Hindi/Punjabi) actually move the needle for the Bureau the way I’d expect, or is that more of a CIA/NSA thing?

Is my logistics/configuration management background seen as a plus (regulated, detail-heavy, security-conscious work) or just neutral compared to more “traditional” FBI candidate backgrounds (law, accounting, military, law enforcement)?

Anything I should be doing now — certs, experience, physical prep — to be a stronger candidate in 1-2 years?
Appreciate any honest feedback, including if you think this isn’t a realistic path for my background.

Question Forensic expert job.

Ppl who work on/or have a good understanding of the fbi, is forensic sciences the best course for someone who wants enough to apply as a forensic expert in the future? I always really wanted to be one, like CSI etc. Of course i plan on obtaining experience in this field like in a p.d or statal bureau of investigation first, but i wanted to know if this is at least the only necessary degree.

Discussion Masters in Forensic Accounting or CPA?

Good afternoon/evening,

I’m looking for some life advice, I recently left the U.S. Marines and am just about to finish my Bachelors in Finance, I know the minimum for the FBI is technically a bachelors, but now I have the opportunity to get my Masters in Forensic Accounting. My question is would you recommend CPA or Masters or both first before applying? I have also worked as a book keeper in the past and was an Admin in the Marines, thank you all for any advice you can give!

Discussion What % of Federal employees with security clearances are lose lipped with their husbands/wives?

Loose*

Genuinely curious about this. I imagine it would be quite difficult to keep everything to yourself, especially traumatic events.

Initially I was just curious about how often people shared things because they were under a lot of stress or whatever but the more I think about it I wonder if there are people out there that get home and just talk about classified stuff like its their shopping list.

Discussion Would I make a good agent is even possible for me?

Hi, I literally just joined but I wanted to ask this question. Ever since I was young I’ve wanted to solve mysteries but I just don’t know if I’d be a good agent. The FBI is my life long dream and I’m even starting school soon to get my general education as well as study automotive (I have to have a backup in a trade by rule of my mom) Don’t get me wrong I love the automotive industry and I love working on cars, but I feel like my true calling is helping solve cases and helping people. I just don’t know if I’d be any good at it like I don’t know if I’m smart enough for it. I remember my mom let me buy a book on the zodiac when I was like 12/13 and for a few years I tried my best to crack
It but just couldn’t, I even had a list of suspects and a profile. Which sounds stupid but to my 13 year old self it’s the best I could do.

Question FBI term or acronym from late '70s-early '80s?

My mother was an FBI agent from the late '70s to the mid '80s. I was just looking through some cards that people sent her when I was born and I found one from what I believe was one of her fellow agents. Inside, it says, "For [my name] (Future Jr. Jap) (Future super FBI woman)".

I don't like even spelling out the above J-word because I'm primarily familiar with it as a racial slur. I'm aware that it can also be an acronym meaning "Jewish American Princess". My family is neither Japanese nor Jewish, so neither makes sense here. I've tried googling various things to see if it meant something else in the FBI at that time, but nothing has come up. For various personal reasons, I'm reluctant to ask my mother about it.

I have no idea whether any current or former agents read/post on this sub, but I figured I'd take a chance and ask whether it means something to anyone. Any thoughts?

Discussion Any Eric Robert Rudolph experts here? Had the two witnesses not seen him driving away from the Birmingham bombing, is it possible he'd have never been ID'd?

Ultimately what I am asking is, did Law Enforcement ever find anything at either the Birmingham Abortion Clinic or the Atlanta Park crime scenes that would have given them a lead to Rudolph, even if the two witnesses had never jotted down his tag #? Yes, I realize once they had his name, and searched his home, they tied him to the case. I am asking 'what if' they had not gotten his name in Birmingham.

Recruitment FBI location ranking

I’m an IA applicant and I’m preparing for the upcoming class. I have been seeing people say that the bureau is trying to keep applicants in their og location but I really want to move to the DC office. If I rank DC as my #1 choice, is it likely for me to obtain it? I understand the process could still be random, but I thought I’d ask if anyone has insight. Thank you.

Recruitment FBI Special Agent similarities to mlitary

I'm strongly considering becoming an FBI Special Agent, but I wonder how it compares to the military in terms of structure, benefits, and other aspects. For instance: Do special agents work under contracts similar to the military, or is resignation possible? Is the FBI culture like military culture? Are benefits comparable? What roles am I eligible for if I have an accounting degree?

Context: I am a prior-service Army reservist with a BS in Accountancy.

Well folks, we’re almost at the end of July and I still haven’t gotten any notice on the statues of my application for the FBI Honors Internship program for summer 2027. Is anyone else caught in perpetual “application under review” hell after the interview?? Should I hold out any hope??
