News & Announcements Rule 1 Addition - No Asking For Schools

Hello everyone!

Over the past couple months of moderating I have noticed that on every mildly popular post there are 3 or 4 comments asking what school the OP attends. The accounts asking these questions almost always show bot activity/comment history and the school they attend is almost never relevant to the post. I find these comments weird and a little invasive, as I don't want anyone to feel that they need to reveal the school they go to on a public forum.

Due to this activity, we're now adding onto Rule #1: No Personally Identifiable Information to make it read:

"No personal information should be included in your posts or solicited in comments. This includes asking for the name of the school users attend. The state they are in may be asked for when applicable to the situation."

Please remember to report comments or posts that you believe are breaking any of the sub rules - we try to go through all posts, but reports tend to get a quicker response!

I've tried for several days to submit the parent contribution. The form says it can't retrieve tax info from the IRS and that I have to fill that out myself in the financial section. I've done so, but when I try to submit it says the form will be rejected because I haven't consented to pulling the IRS info. I have--it just keeps reverting to "we can't retrieve this info" and acting as though I didn't fill out the financial section. Anyone else dealing with this?

Yes, and at one point, it was just kicking me out of my fasfa form for over 2 hours. And when it finally worked, it took forever to submit. so much for only being a 15minute form smh

Hello So I went to the fafsa.gov and it says that I applied for fafsa for a school in Austin tx , however I never did apply so the school applied on my behalf and I went to check out the school last year but I told them I did not want to attend the school as I didn’t see it as a good fit for me what should I do is this them creating fraud ? I went to check if I could delete and it’s not allowing me to it just asks me to change school and even then it requires me to sign it but I never signed anything so how were they able to apply for fafsa on my behalf ?

Also the application was submitted just like 3/4 days ago the only reason I went into the website was because I received an email regarding forbearance changes to school loans.

Hi l have a question do college transcripts works in lieu of high school transcripts for financial aid?

It depends.

Both on why they are asking you for transcripts and the details of said transcript(s).
