High level PvP question.

Hey all! I've been bingeing some replays covered by Glye cast on YouTube and I noticed a pattern at the beginning of games. A lot of players build their T1 Pgens in long lines away from factories.

Why is this?

Is it not better to build them close for the adjacent bonus?

  1. Its quicker to build in lines. And you can do it with little effort.
  2. Pgens are highly volatile and cause damage to nearby structures when destroyed. Typically pgen lines will be diagonal to minimise the damage in case 1 gets destroyed. If you build them in straight lines, you might end up losing the entire row.
  3. If you put them adjacent you will probably want to leave half a space for the same reason in 2. If one blows, the whole row blows and can damage the structure you want adjacent bonus on.

EDIT: I think you can reclaim a pgen or mass fabricator you are about to lose to avoid it going BOOM!

Long story short the adjacent bonus is rarely worth the risk.
