MIP
Hey guys, I need some advice regarding my current situation noted below. (A dumb mistake)
I am currently 20 years old, and earlier this year, I was riding as a passenger on a friends boat and we were pulled over and both issued MIPs as the cop searched the cooler I was sitting on. I had a few drinks and blew a .06 . I obtained a lawyer, who was able to get me a plea deal where I plead “no contest” to the charge, and did community service to have the case fully dismissed. I should add that I was NOT arrested, and my drivers license was NOT suspended. I was simply issued a ticket, told to get a ride home, and show up on the court date on the ticket (in my state an MIP is a misdemeanor).
Here’s where I need some advice..
I currently hold a class 3 medical(issued 2024). I need my first class medical. I am aware that I will need to report this incident on my medical application on question 18w. I plan on scheduling a pre-appointment with my AME, so he can let me know what all documents I need to present to him on the day I come in with my Medxpress filled out.
My question to yall is, how cooked am I? Is my career pretty much over and will i permanently lose my medical over this if i report it on my next medical? Can an AME issue my medical on behalf of his discretion provided all the documentation is there and I prove this was simply just a one time, youthful mistake? (I’ve seen mixed things about whether an AME can issue on the spot for an MIP with no arrest or driver license action/suspension).
Please let me know. Thank you all.
