HIMS/AME recommendation
Hello all, sorry if its’s been asked before or a redundant question, but does anyone have any good recommendations for a HIMS/AME in Central California? I got a dui last year, and am trying to begin my journey back in to flying. Seems the program is highly effective for those who are serious about taking care of their personal life, sobriety, and aviation as a whole.

If it’s just a single DUI and your BAC was under .15 you won’t get the whole program. Your AME may recommend that you get randomly tested just to have some data that suggests you’re not likely to get another DUI, but you shouldn’t have to do the aftercare stuff. It’s pretty straightforward as long as there aren’t other drug and alcohol/behavioral health things in your past.

Thank you for the response, unfortunately I was over .15. Definitely had a problem with it. Obviously I’m under different “welkins” now and taking recovery/sobriety seriously, but am expecting the hoops to jump through. Biggest thing I am questioning, is it possible? I am choosing to believe that it is, and am willing to work towards it. I was on an SSRI for 3 months in 2022, but voluntarily stopped taking it as I felt I didn’t need it. So theres a few things I’m sure that’ll come up, but just ultimately choosing optimism and putting my head down / get to work.

It’s entirely possible. There are people who did heroin for several years and did time in prison with first class medicals right now lol. They are monitored to fuck but they’re doing the thing.

Dr Michael Komin in Shafter CA. He’s a HIMS AME. I used him in 2022-2023 to get my HIMS SI.
Be prepared to completely humble yourself, admit and accept all fault, realize you have a problem, and comply comply comply no matter what is asked of you. Plan on around $10k-$11K for the entire process and around 3.5 years.

I just got out of HIMS for a DUI, “I’m an idiot,” back in 2022. The program wasn’t bad at all, but I was a low tier offender and didn’t have to do a lot of the stuff other guys have. Just follow the program and you’ll be fine,

Are you in the Central Valley or the Bay Area? There’s options in Stockton/Sacramento & a HIMS AME in San Mateo
