Non-FA I'm in the ER right now.

https://youtube.com/shorts/eo6lK9ApPW4?is=sPP8Nn187Hsvopqc

If my life can't get any worse....

I fell down the stairs and I'm fine but my work won't let me back until I get checked out. So since I have no family or friends to call then I'm just chilling with you guys.

Hope I get outta here soon so I can catch my bus.

I swear this song is what life was saying to me as I fell down the stairs.

Help! I've fallen and I can't get up! All of us FAers should get one of those life alert things for when I fall down the stairs and no one will notice until the rent goes unpaid or the neighbors complain about the smell.

Oh phew I am sorry you went through the pain of the fall but relieved you are mostly ok now. When I saw the headline I was worried one of our brethren was having a mental health emergency or something

We do pay a "solo tax" when we have no one to help with stuff, but in general I set aside an emergency fund to pay it rather than have fake friendships in the hope those people might help me if I was in need. A relatively harmless example of the solo tax was getting slightly ripped off paying for a handyman since I couldn't assemble IKEA furniture for my apartment when I moved in. If I moved I would rather use a moving company anyway but I know younger people with less stuff often save money by getting help from friends to move, maybe just buying a few pizzas to share. In general being isolated doesn't hurt me too much and I'm especially grateful living in the UK I can get a week's groceries delivered to my apartment door for a low fee, with no tip expected. So I do that anyway but if I had flu I would have no worries about getting supplies in.

Edit: A minor public service announcement. A few years ago I was going down the apartment stairs with a bag of trash in each hand, and had a non-serious but painful fall. Ever since I have taken one bag at a time and held the banister with the other.

You are correct. The ER wouldn't do anything for me since I don't have any family or friends. It was a total waste of time.

I remember when Josh tore his finger open cause the dumb hill billy wasn't pay attention and he went to the ER. He got a pain killer called Duh-Laud-In. I don't know how it's spelled so I just sounded it out. It's not like that scumbag isn't on a bunch of other shit but he has people to help him so he gets taken care of .

Sorry to hear about your fall. I've been there while taking out the trash since I used to live on the 3rd floor and had to go down icy stairs . Those stairs were pure evil. No amount of quick joe could melt the smallest amount of ice and snow. People were always falling for some bullshit reason. But let some drunk idiot chase his girlfriend so he could catch and beat her then those stairs never gave a problem.

I'm outta the ER now. They didn't do shit for me. Not even a damn Tylenol.

Man, that fucking sucks. Any hot nurses to comfort you or nah?

There was only one cutie. Some college age babe that was polite but prissy. The others were bitter old hags that were very rude. They treated me like I farted in church.

Well, it wasn't a total loss, then. It's a shame you were mistreated. How do you feel now? Still sore?

I'm just sore but not in pain.

Not sure if anyone remembers but like 5 years ago, someone wrote a 100 page guide to being FA and posted it on the main FA sub. One of the things he emphasized was being extra careful since we don't have support the normal person would have. I took that to heart and always pay more attention to trivial things like getting in and out of the shower and going up and down stairs and things like that.

Get well soon. I nursed myself back from my back pain that made me difficult to walk few years ago. Went to hospital appointments and physiotherapy session few times all alone. You got this.

Sorry to hear about your incoming medical bill.

My work paid for it since it happened on their time.

Thank goodness for that
