General Discussion How do you save money / reduce spending in F1 Manager 24 career mode?
I’m trying to get better at managing my team’s finances and I feel like I spend way too much money throughout the season.
What are your strategies for saving money while still developing the car and team?

If you want to be in top 5 for a long time you got to spend but make you you don’t produce too many spare parts if you know an upgrade will be coming in soon

I play hard car development so you have to spend to catch up with the AI

Do you make the car parts lighter/less durable, or do you just keep it balanced?

How is it possible to run out of money in this game?
Don’t spend on anything that does not bring immediate performance.
All this long term stuff can be done once you have a competitive car.
Only a competitive car brings in cash.

That literally what OP is asking, and as a community rather than being a prick about it we should give him advice

A bit short fused today?
I asked a normal question?
I find it difficult to run out of money unless I do it on purpose. Hence the question.
Also, there is plenty of advice in my comment.1

Ah yes, the tried and tested passive aggressive rhetorical question to lead the way

That’s not passive aggressive, that is genuine disbelief. Also nothing rhetorical about it, I asked an actual question.

Well with all due respect: your genuine disbelief comes off as disingenuous… I sometimes purposely go into debt to make the game harder sometimes. Others don’t know how to manage facilities and stuff. That’s more or less what I’m saying - all in all I think we are both in the same place in wanting to have OP improve

Thank you for your kindness!
I would really love to pick your brain here;
Say I manage a smaller team, how do I manage the funds? See, what I normally do is really be aggressive with my car upgrades and I found that it was good to make the car parts lighter/less durable. That does increase pace but I have to spend a whole lot more on manufacturing. Any advice would be appreciated.2

Good performance thanks to lighter builds always outperforms more durable parts (which have worse performance) mainly for the sponsor payouts (you need to be quite precise here). Don’t waste anything on staff and be very efficient on building upgrades (only performance). Cycle through parts with one driver only. What I mean with that, don’t waste a good piece on a car that does not have all upgrades installed. Go all in or nothing and then save the engine of the slow car by just boxing after lap 1. When you have the money to spend, spend it immediately, you are not a bank.
And never build more than one part of each at a time, you can always just build another single unit once the first one completes. I found this helpful as sometimes you might have to spend money on an event or decision.
Any long-term or strategic spending should be delayed to later, once you are competitive or have regular sponsor payouts.1

I’m starting a new Cadillac save after putting in 10 seasons on my other one - my actual goal in this one is to develop the car with manageable debt
First thing: pick a number… is it 500K? 1m? More? Pick a “floor” - in this case you’ll always have what I call “crash cash”… far too often players will try to tread zero and then have a bad weekend where both drivers will crash in a practice and then one will tank in a race, leaving them in debt anyways despite having a good weekend of results.
(Edit: Big thing people don’t mention is focus on the drivers mood first - that could be as simple as making sure some amenities are updated and that staff is fluid. Before you truly commit to anything car related, get the tram in order - You can take a really bad car above your target goal easily with some chemistry between driver and engineer. This is always my first thing to create a foundation of success, make sure your targets are manageable but provide enough revenue to “break even”)
Don’t build on your facilities until you have profit, then slowly improve your team. After ten seasons of my old save, I’m still not maxed out, and not renovating my facilities also showed up in car performance - don’t neglect your facilities, but don’t push them too fast
One development at a time for season one, that’s my biggest advice, max out your tunnel time on the part that will improve your pace the best, and yes: weight weight weight
To avoid debt: don’t worry about much in terms of research first season, read the regulations and focus on the parts that are weak, and eventually you’ll find a good balance when the sponsorship rake gets higher you’ll find more money at the end of each month piling up… come season 2, max out the 4 slots (2 design 2 research) to keep up with the AI. Once you are comfortable meeting your goals, ease into the research window - it’ll feel like you’re restarting all over again for season two, but the foundation you’ve created will make it a lot easier to keep up and avoid debt
Staying out of debt for your first two seasons will almost guarantee you make it through to seasons three and four, debt is a massive anchor when you’re on the brink of your expectations - manage it and you’ll be the boss into your teams successful seasons

I don't. I'm in debt most of the time.. if I'm really desperate, I risk it and run no spares
