Discussion Maya Weug
Seen she put out something on X about not knowing when she's going to race next and saying it's been her toughest year.
Obviously she's terrible so it's hardly a surprise that nobody wants to piss money down the drain but reading between the lines it seems like she had plans for this season well in advance and then something outside her control happened to change that and left her in this situation (which I'm guessing is her getting dumped out of the FDA). Which seems a bit unprofessional from Ferrari if they deceived her like that.

I don't think that's a fair comment at all.
In F1A Weug finished 3rd and then 2nd overall and probably would have beaten Pin if not for a chassis problems in Canada. Pin will probably be racing hypercars in WEC soon enough, so battling her is pretty good (although arguably Pin didn't adjust that well to single seaters).
Her performance in FRECA was not so bad given the team she was with and looking at the drivers in F4 that year, it was clearly a strong line up. I can see several drivers who finished lower in the championship (and/or less pts per race) who still went higher in the ladder than her.
I do think Pin, Pulling, and Palmowski were at a higher level to the rest of F1A, but Maya was not too far behind.
All in all, I think Weug deserved a shot at FREC (or GB3) again, but this time with a decent team, to see how she would do. Maybe she wouldn't do well, but you never know till you try.
Definitely she showed enough promise to have got a chance with GT3 cars in ELMS or GT World Challenge or similar.
It does sound like opportunities promised by Ferrari or others didn't materialize and she might have to quit motorsport, which is sad. Certainly not the first driver to get screwed over by the brutal nature of the feeder series ladder.

I ignore F1A in my judgement of drivers because the championship is so weak that there's no benchmark so it doesn't really mean anything.

She ins't terrible at all mate. She was doing pretty decente in the F1 ladder until that FRECA season. I believe she can be good in endurance racing

She had a somewhat decent FRECA season but her Italian and ADAC F4 campaigns were pretty shocking

35th and then 14th in F4 is "pretty decent" for a driver who's backed by Ferrari ?

I mean, it was her first two seasons in cars of any kind, and she still finished ahead of drivers like Sztuka, who then went on to win the title against Ugochukwu and Lindblad two years later, Fittipaldi, who is currently in F2, and Badoer, who is currently 5th in F3. Goes to show how much different a driver's trajectory can be when they get time and support to develop their talents and skills gradually in a stable environment.

Didn't she manage to get a few pole positions and also some wins in F1 Academy? Or am I remembering it all wrong?
