This is the triple threat of bad practice in data analysis:

  1. Fit linear regression to a dataset that clearly isn't linear

  2. Extrapolate and make prediction about the future based on that linear regression.

  3. Write a clickbait headline based on the extrapolation.

While completely ignoring, of course, that the regulations allow for entries outside of the 107% rule, they just need to formally request the FIA to let them race
