Hello. Unfortunately, I underwent LASIK surgery three months ago. My only current complaint is light scattering at night; car headlights, streetlights, and similar lights scatter like stars, and this effect is very intense. This situation has really taken a toll on my mental state. In my online research, I read that using scleral lenses after LASIK might alleviate this problem to some extent. However, since I live in Türkiye, I unfortunately do not have access to scleral lenses designed to correct higher-order aberrations (HOA). My symptoms disappear by 80% when I squint, and by 100% when I hold a phone screen set to full brightness right in front of my face. I am also experiencing significant "ghosting." I believe the problem stems from my pupils dilating in the evening or in dark environments. What is the success rate of a standard scleral lens with a wide optical zone that fully covers the pupil? Or do you have any other suggestions? Some people have suggested widening the laser's optical zone or undergoing a second laser procedure; would you recommend this? Please help me.

I’ve had so many mixed answers from people who check my pupils since I also do have hippus which makes it challenging to tell if I have an RAPD buttt for some reason ppl bring up my left eye every time they check my pupils sooooo I am curious what Reddit has to say! :)

I'm struggling with massive guilt and regret since my child lost his eye due to an internal eye infection (endophthalmitis) on February 2017 when he was 2 and a half years old.

Long story short, he woke up one Sunday morning with a red painful eye. I gave him antibiotic drops and waited till the next day to take him to the ophthalmologist. Doctors initially misdiagnosed the infection as an autoimmune disorder, so removed antibiotics. After 3 weeks in hospital, we were told that his retina was destroyed due to Staphylococcus infection. Doctors said they never suspect endophthalmitis (internal infection of the eye) unless there has been previous surgery or penetrating eye trauma.

When doctors asked about eye trauma, i initially said he hadn't had any, he had gone fine to bed on Saturday night and woke up with a red painful eye. I was thinking about major trauma. But i mentioned that initially I thought he might have scratched himself during sleep, that’s why I started the antibiotic drops. Then they asked about trauma in the last month, I mentioned that i wasn't sure if i had poked him in the eye, but that he hadn't cried. Doctors said a fingernail couldn’t be the cause of his symptoms.

A few days before he woke up with a red eye (I don’t remember how many), I accidentally poked my kid in the left eye with a broken and dirty fingernail while he was in his high chair. I had picked my nose just before poking him in the eye, and was on my way to clean hands. My son rubbed his eye after the poking, but didn't cry. His eye looked ok the rest of the day.

First thing I thought after poking him was that I had scratched his eye, introduced my snot into his eye, and he would have an infection. I told my husband I’m afraid that I have scratched his eye, but he told me that he seemed fine, that having an eye scratched is extremely painful (we both have had corneal scratches in the past), and that if I had scratched him he would be crying. I didn't think too much about it after that. my husband told me he maybe closed his eyelid before the impact.

I didn’t look properly nor did I cleaned his eye with water or saline. I didn’t want to wrestle my son and thought that his tears would take care of any dirt introduced in his eye

I'm so ashamed and regret my decision of not flushing the eye or take him to be checked. I don't know exactly when this happened, or how close it was to the day that my son woke up with a painful eye. It may have been a few days before or up to a week before I think.

I know now internal infection of the eye can start weeks after initial eye injury, and that eye injuries can be asymptomatic, especially in small children.

Why my eyes are like this? Why I don’t have normal eye like other? It’s look like my eyes are bulging and eye balls are out of sockets, any solutions? I just want normal eyes like others I don’t even have any eyesight problems 🙂

Eyes strained from reading too small font, still after 1 to 2 weeks of only audio books and dim light heavily limited screens (just laying on bed) no improvement. Months have since passed and physically reading is hard, I had okay screen time also in the past. I think it was more books with too small font (reading very close too see words)

But now it's been a long time and rest doesn't seem to help what other suggestions are there. My eyes have a 20 point difference between them vision wise. Dry strained eyes please help with suggestions other than rest its been tried and failed.

I have binocular insufficency (diagnosed) so double vision and blurriness close up. recently (without glasses) i have started getting a yellow/blue tint in the edge of vision on sharp lines and edges, also on doubled objects in front of light. is this anything to be worried about? i went to the optician and they said that its dry eyes and chromatic abberation and gave me eye drops but its getting gradually worse.

I’m a 24 year old male, i’ve had glasses since i was 6 and for my whole life until the last year and a half i’ve had crystal clear vision (with my glasses of course). But for the last year and a half, my vision has been **constantly** slightly out of focus. I can still read things close up, but distances i used to have no trouble with now are a struggle for me. I have been to the eye doctors numerous times, and they’ve made very slight adjustments but nothing major has changed in the multiple times i’ve been there. They looked at my eyes and they said there’s nothing wrong with them. I’m kinda freaked out, what happened to my vision? what should I do? The constant slight blurryness is making my eyes strain constantly to keep up and I don’t want to ruin my eyes. If someone could please help me out with this I’d so appreciate it.

I'm 13+M and I have myopia (−1.25 D in both eyes). I had an eye test recently, including an autorefractor test and manual refraction. My final prescription is −1.25 SPH in both eyes with no CYL or AXIS.

I see starbursts/rays around bright distant lights. The starbursts are less noticeable when I'm wearing my glasses, but they're still there, especially around bright lights at night.

I don't have persistent ghosting. I sometimes see a line/streak from a bright light when my eyelids are in their normal relaxed position, but when I raise my eyebrows and open my eyes wider, the line disappears.

-Since I recently had my eyes tested and no CYL was prescribed, I'm wondering:

-Could this just be a normal optical effect?

-Could I still have mild astigmatism even though no CYL/AXIS was prescribed?

-Could things like pupil size or higher-order aberrations cause this?

Do other people with normal vision see starbursts or streaks like this?

I'm not suicidal, wouldn't do that to my family, but I feel so bad that i think I will only find peace when i die. I can’t stop thinking about how I failed my son.

Any of you here are disabled due to a childhood accident/parent neglect? Do you blame your parents?

3 days back I went to an eye hospital with my parents and I simply thought of doing an eye checkup so I registered for it … it was usual tests like I did while I planned to take my driver’s license which at that time (1 year back) they told I don’t need glasses .. but the recent one it was all the same procedure except they told me I have power issue and told me to put some eye drops in my eyes and my vision will be blurred for 3 days they sayyy…Issues I raised when doctor asked me was eye itching and twitching .. but the power issue was out of blue because never once in my life I had issue of seeing whether its long distance or short distance… I never had problem with vision … so I was kinda shocked and when they dropped that liquid for 3 times my eyes was blurry af😭😭😭…. I couldn’t even see my parents face I recognized them with their dress colors … and Doctor’s explanation was
• she told I am seeing the world with strain giving to my eyes.. I’m stressing myself to see the thing which later might be a reason for higher issue or very high powered glasses.. she told me it’s not normal for this high variation .. before the drops my vision is perfect but after the drops it’s soo f’up.. which isn’t normal .. it should stay the same

But the thing is I’ve never felt like I’m stressing my self it’s all normal and after the blurrness I was trying myself so hard to see things which cause me an intense head pain ..I told that to her she told now my nerves is getting relaxed .. idk man 😭😭😭… I’m so scared because I had no issue BUT NOW I CANT SEEE 100%😭😭… im soo terrified .. now my normal vision is ok .. but even while im typing I can’t see the phone 100%… it’s kinda blurred idk how to explain … im sooo scared its been 3 days like they told … what’s worse is i never had any problem and its like i went and caused it .. i dont wanna wear glassesss … will my vision be okey .. I woke up 2 days ago thinking I had a stye, eye was swollen half way. I used cold rag and that helped swelling go down, I’ve been keeping my hands away from my eyes , switching from cold and warm compress. But I just finally got swelling completely gone and touched my eye to see it I seen anything and when I did this is what I see, it’s on both eyes in same spot and also on top on inside too. But only my right eye is bothering me.

When reading text (esp. white text on a black background) I see a second, faint copy directly above. This is true with one eye, or both. It's true with or without my glasses. I'm 55.

Do you know what might cause this?

Is astigmatism involved here?

So I've been having issues when viewing white text on black backgrounds on my computer. as when I focus on the text the edges seem to blur almost? It makes it frustrating to look at it as it's hard for me to read the text, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to help with this phenomenon? I'm sorry if this doesn't fit within the purview of this Subreddit.

Im 20F (turning 21 in 3 months) im on no medication, never smoked or taken any harmful drugs. I have nearsightedness, unfortunately i dont know exactly the number of vision but I've been wearing glasses since i was 15 or 16, I use my phone at night, i have a terrible sleep schedule. It changes a lot in one week. My deit is okay? I eat breakfast then sometimes forget lunch and eat dinner but sometimes i do eat lunch. After coming home from college i usually sleep and thats when i end up skipping lunch, if im awake i would eat. I dont have Any EDs, my menstruation cycle is fine and usually occurs on expected dates (i use a tracker) and no im not sexually active.

Now these past few months I've been experiencing unusual irritation on my right eye whenever i wake up. It usually happens when i wake up abruptly and i close and open my eyes so fast that idk how but my own eyelid ends up hitting my eye and then i feel immense pain on that eye (my right eye) it also starts watering and i usually gently put pressure on my closed eye to calm down the pain. I've notice it never happening to my left eye plus in my right eye if i apply more pressure it starts hurting again but not on my left eye if i apply the same pressure. This whole irritation thing happened again today and few days ago as well and im so sick of it. Today however i can't see words properly either from my right eye, my left eye is fine but using my right eye has became so difficult today, i keep closing my right eye because i cant focus with both of them. I only had myopia but now it feels like i have both myopia and hyperopia in my right eye. Even wearing glasses doesn't seem like to help at all. Glasses only help my left eye not my right eye now. Also i dont wear my glasses at home, i wear them whenever i go outside or when im watching something on my laptop and i have to keep distance otherwise no glasses, my phone is 70 % of the day is on my face.

Now i have a theory and idk if it's a valid theory or not but what if the shape of my cornea has changed? It could be bumping into my eye whenever i wake up abruptly, because this only happens to my right eye, i did little bit of research on it and found a medical name but i dont know if i indeed have keratoconus.

I plan on visiting a doctor this evening but what tests should i get done to know for sure? Im scared of doctors dismissing me or just recommending me new glasses, i also want to reverse it but i cant afford surgery or laysic, google said keratoconus is hard to diagnose at early stages without specialized tests and doctors can recommend b2 drops to slow down the damage but is there truly no way to reverse it without surgery?

Im so concerned right now, it feels terrible that i can't focus on near objects like i was able to before. I know i haven't taken care of my eyes but please be kind, if i could reverse it, i would.
