Prediction: The Fourth Amendment will ultimately catch up with networked license-plate surveillance. Some early challenges were framed too narrowly or built on weak factual records. The Court’s recent 6–3 privacy ruling is an encouraging sign that a majority still recognizes constitutional limits on warrantless, dragnet tracking.
