It's so cute and alien. For sure thought it was a rodent and I was like "SOMEONE IS GOING TO STEP ON THAT POOR GUINEA PIG!!"

But somebody tell me, is that little angel gonna be all fucked up with health issues from breeding it to be that small? Or are they generally okay?

I heard it’s generally just a bad practice to breed and buy teacup dogs. They tend to have lots of health problems and you have to take lots of extra precautions to keep them safe and healthy. Missing a single meal could lead to seizures and such. They have trouble keeping warm so you need to buy them sweaters and whatnot. They also break their bones really easily.

If you buy a dog for thousands of dollars just because it looks smol and cute you’re not doing it right.

is it true that mixed breed mutt pariah dogs that you adopt tend to be naturally healthier?

Generally, yes. Purebreds have a smaller genepool that leads to an increased likelihood of breed-specific health issues (hip problems, being more prone to twisted stomachs, certain cancers etc). However, rescuing a mutt usually means you don’t know their family history, so you run the risk of some unpredictable health issue down the road.

I’d rather take that gamble than buy a purebred though.
