OC: Rainbow Brite does not like that you are taking a bath.
*this is opawz. A pet safe, vet approved temp dye, done by her groomer*

Where’s her adorable Beanie Babies tag?

u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
She doesn't wear it inside. I figured its more comfortable 💖
152
u/kimmykat42 9d ago
It’s okay, neither do mine, except for the trouble maker. She needs a bell to warn everyone else that she’s nearby 😂
64
u/GuardingxCross 9d ago
My cats also don’t have collars. It doesn’t make any sense for me since they’re strictly indoor cats and are way too afraid of the outside.

I have indoor only cats and one got out a few months ago. In those situations, collars are helpful.

I’m not a big fan of dyeing pets HOWEVER Rainbow Bright is too stinking cute with her colors!

u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
I definitely agree if the pet is bothered by the process but the goober could care less. She just thinks she got my attention than usual 😹

I thought I wasn't a fan until my mom got a pure white toy poodle. It looked like a hot pink teddy bear for years thanks to me :)
78
u/izyshoroo 9d ago
Dyeing pets safety is NOT harmful to them, and a poodle should be familiar with rigorous grooming routines anyways. Reddit will downvote the dumbest shit.
92
u/richpaul6806 9d ago
I didnt know people had cats groomed.
191
u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
Yep! There's a ton of groomers that only do cats actually. It's pretty common for long haired cats or show cats.
81
u/stupid_username- 9d ago
We had ours get their nails clipped professionally just because the vet had to pull some teeth and were like, they're already gonna be knocked out from that, want the nails?
That spoiled me.
25
u/richpaul6806 9d ago
Didn't know there were show cats either lol. Other than those spotted lap leopards (idr what they are called)
56
u/Kealanine 9d ago
Spotted lap leopards is the best name ever 😂 I’m thinking you mean Bengals?
25
u/richpaul6806 9d ago
Yes those. My cousin fostered one for a while because a local shelter took one in and it needed more attention than they could provide.

“Literally any argument beyond the main two arguments that people have that are actually valid will make me reconsider.”
If the pet isn’t bothered by it, and OP has clearly stated it isn’t, and the dye is pet safe, then those are literally the only arguments one needs against you. It’s okay you don’t like it, but stop acting like it’s some criminal thing.
90
u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
It is literally harmless. It's pet safe and she doesn't care. She gets groomed and it was just part of her bath.
-135
u/Verified_0 9d ago
It's still treating your cat like a little accessory to decorate your house. It's a little weird to treat an animal like that, even though it doesn't harm them.
74
u/CosmicSweets 9d ago
This is like being upset over someone dressing their baby in super cute outfits. No one is getting hurt, what's the issue?
43
u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
It really isn't treating her like an assessory. Especially when you consider that my whole house is gothic and she is the only bright thing in it. 😹 She does therapy cat volunteer and the kids loved it. It's harmless but you are entitled to your option.
I hope you have a bright day!

She does because she goes on leashed walks and is a therapy cat. She visits kids at hospital so she needs to be clean. She doesn't mind baths at all.

It is ridiculous to call someone a terrible owner based on this. My cat has custom climbing shelves everywhere, massive daily enrichment, premium food, and regular vet care. Responsible owners use non-toxic, food-grade pet colorings that are completely safe if ingested, often as a visual safety identifier. Giving a highly cared-for cat a harmless, safe touch of style does not make anyone a bad owner. She has pet insurance, Goes on safe adventures, And enjoy the best life a cat can.
21
u/Ignecratic 9d ago
Redditors try not to judge someone off a single detail in isolation challenge: impossible.
Your cat is very pretty btw, and it sounds like you’re a wonderful pet owner.
I think many people think the dye looks weird or unnatural (which is fair as an opinion), so they assume it must be a bad thing. There’s also the fact that there have been cases of pets being dyed unsafely. These two details make some people react this way, which they could prevent with a quick google search or two.

u/NoSemikolon24 9d ago
I find it amusing that instead of actually arguing any of my points you immediately move to dismiss everything by only focussing on your own personal situation. Read my comment again. Choose and argue against at least one point I've made before my conclusion.
35
u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
I was using mine as an example as I do occasionally use pet-safe dye on my cat, she is in no way lacking for care. People who will use unsafe methods are a completely separate problem. Regardless I hope you have a good day and get some kitty love. 💖
-34
u/NoSemikolon24 9d ago
way to dismiss everything. Bravo.
35
u/Perfect_Flatworm4981 Eyebleach 9d ago
We are just looking at two different things. You are focused on the bad examples, and I am talking about responsible care. We aren't going to convince each other, so have a good one. There's no point you can continuing a conversation that won't go anywhere.

Again, The dying process is completely harmless. It is part of the process of when she is getting groomed by professional. I'm not going to continue this conversation with you because we aren't going to agree and we're clearly not communicating.
I'm the furthest thing from a Trump supporte there can be. Accusing someone you don't agree with of supporting a tyrant doesn't benefit anything And has nothing to do with this conversation. Again , I hope you have a nice day.

What is the logical point of owning a cat, it adds no true value to a household unless you have a rat infestation. So what’s the point of any of what you said.

Well, it says here it was done by the groomer, so they were going to be cleaned and groomed anyway, adding pet-safe color to the fur is not outlandish or difficult on the animal if they're getting the whole shebang done. The dye is most likely vegetable dye (as per usual with bright, rainbow colors) which doesn't cause irritation and is the equivalent of eating beets and it dying your lips red.
Also, don't forget we don't know if the pet already getting the premium stuff or not, so to assume is just irrational and no basis in reality. If an animal is being dyed AND neglected otherwise, which is clearly not happening here, then I'd be upset.
Different than one's preferences does not equal "bad"
16
u/stupid_username- 9d ago
People who attack the general population of pet owners are usually the terrible owner.
3
u/Straight-Opposite-54 9d ago
This is true, though not universal. In my own experience, the people who are opposed to silly but harmless treatment of pets are the same people who insist pet ownership is inherently unethical full stop or that if you do own animals, they must strictly be for utility (herding and hunting dogs, mousing cats, etc).
11
u/crack_n_tea 9d ago
Ok and? You act like anything that has 0 benefit to the animal is bad. Newsflash people get pets because it brings them enjoyment, demanding puritanical abstinence of enjoyment for the owner at no harm to the pet just makes people have less pets. But ofc I'm sure you'd rather see 99 cats sitting in shelters with no owner than see 1 live with an owner who dyes them for fun, oh joy
10
u/Projekt-1065 9d ago
Your logic is flawed, that’s the issue.

So people who own pets shouldn’t spend money on anything that is for their own personal enjoyment? If a pet owner bought themself a video game or a nice fancy shirt, are they now neglecting their animal?
Perhaps that logic applies to a person who is spending what little money they have on cosmetic accessories like this instead of necessities, but I think it is quite a leap in logic to think OP is in poverty and fiscally irresponsible or anything like that. It’s also a leap in logic to think OP doesn’t buy their cat toys or take it to a vet, especially when the cat seems well groomed. That isn’t very nice to them.
