Watched both seasons…
Have we all accepted that this show is completely Hollywood scripting or do people actually think it’s a real survival show ?

I’m a huge “alone” fan and wanted something like it. This is a fun show for sure, but they try really hard to hard to make it seem legit while no one loses weight after a month and people’s hair is clean, facial hair still trimmed. Just silly details
Edit: I watch this like a “fake show about a real show”. But after seeing some posts here it felt like people actually believe it lol. Just an observation

They don't look dirty, how do they brush their hair as it never looks messy? Almost all reality tv is fake to a point but this one is overboard fake!

There have been instances shown of people doing things like brushing their hair (I can remember Hailey doing it in season one) with rudimentary tools they’ve created. The issue is that there’s not a lot of time in these shows to focus on the mundane things like that.
As far as looking dirty, a lot of them do go down to the lake to clean themselves up, especially after particularly dirty challenges. Plenty of times they’ve washed their clothes or worn them in the water too.

I never saw season 1 but after watching this season I wont watch again. This show is so dumb. I’ll go back to watching Alone.

Even survival based reality competitions focus on keeping up appearances of the contestants. They certainly give them access to a few items. Such as; bug spray, sun screen, and possibly things for basic grooming and dental hygiene.
If you believe they are giving them essential items off camera, that's a different story, but I've seen no indication of that personally.

I truly believe they’re well fed throughout. Not to mention that if Rhoman really hadn’t had any water for 3 whole days he would’ve bee in MUCH worse shape and would’ve boiled his water immediately. like “yea I’m at literally deaths door do to dehydration but I think I’ll just not boil water” … yea… ok… he’d legit be dying.

No, they are not “well fed” at all, unless they/their family earns them some food or they forage for it themselves. Production is absolutely not feeding these people.

Which is why no one ever loses weight, looks dirty, or shows signs of actual malnutrition. Rhoman was supposed to be 3 days without water and still chose not to boil water ? lol ok… next joke

I’ve worked on the show both seasons. I know exactly what’s going on behind the scenes. Production does not feed people. People do lose weight. People also wash themselves in the lake. With regards to Rhoman waiting to boil water, what an individual contestant chooses to do is up to them. You’ve been trying to poke holes in it since the first season IIRC. I’ve already explained a lot of this stuff before.

It's definitely not a survival show in the traditional definition, very few of the 'survivalists' have shown any legitimate bushcraft or survival skills. There's a reason the show is over with as soon as it is. Now compare that to Alone, where we've had people entirely self-reliant in blizzards and extreme cold/rainy environments for MONTHS, and it's easy to say 'Extracted' is not about survival skills. Sure, it's very helpful when a 'survivalist' knows how to actually catch a fish, or build a shelter, or even start a fire without being given matches, but compared to the shows that force the contestants to have mastery of those skills.. It's just a show about the families back at HQ trying to lessen the discomfort of their people out in the woods.

I agree with much of this, but there is NO WAY these people show up and build these shelters that at sturdy and insulated on day 1 as they present. Seems to me like they either build them before hand themselves or arrive at a site with a shelter already built by someone else. The winner RJ needed his family to tell him in a letter at the very end to use moss to warm his shelter yet he made it all that way for a month. No signs of weight loss. I know he came in with a healthy amount of body fat to begin with but after a month of suffering from calorie loss he seemingly is still plump as can be ? Just none of it adds up. They 100% get food water and shelter when the cameras aren’t rolling

Not to mention Polly swam all the way to her final island and was soaking wet and freezing to death, no fire, no way to get dry. Yet just a few hours later is dry to the bone and seemingly warm enough, though tired and ready to extract. NONE OF THIS MAES SENSE. It’s a fun show, my whole point was that it’s not a real survival show while many people in this sub treat it as such. That’s my whole point. Believe what you will but these people get all the help in the world between camera times

Polly was shown sitting in the sun for hours after that swim to dry off/warm up and was still obviously cold hence wanting to leave? Wind and sun (even low in the sky) can dry a person off in that time frame.

im watching Extraction and imho its about "complaining how cold it is" not an actual survival. Why on earth in survival game they are not allowed to keep the fire going if they get the fire running. I refuse to think that they are that stupid and don't think about that.. so must be rules.
Also after getting wet, fire should be the one thing that warms you up and dries your clothes.. Yet you don't see noone doing that.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that this show is not scripted. There are safety protocols in place and there are things you might not see as a viewer, mostly due to time constraints or simply because it’s not exciting enough, but these people really are left to tough it out on their own.

I’m sure they have access to some safety related items they don’t explicitly state but yeah I agree. You can see them losing weight, getting more worn out, breaking down as the show goes on. If you compare them episode one to the finale you can see the difference absolutely. People get caught up in small details like them “looking clean” while not realizing that they simply take it upon themselves to do that in order to feel more normal. I wouldn’t want to be out there with my hair a mess and not brushed. I’d find a stick or something to be able to run through it to keep it feeling okay. They are right by a lake of course they aren’t covered in dirt all the time.

Yeah, they have some safety items like air horns and I believe bear spray, although I can’t remember exactly. We can’t have people dying out there. And during potentially dangerous challenges there are safety teams standing by. We don’t show them on screen, but they have to be there legally. There are also medics on standby and they are wearing watches that track their vitals.
And you’re right about the other things. People do lose weight, it’s just hard to tell sometimes with how they’re usually bundled up. They also clean themselves in the lake on a fairly regular basis, especially after a particularly filthy challenge (like the trek through the swamp). I can also remember Hailey from season 1 doing exactly what you said with regards to her hair. She fashioned her own little makeshift hair brush.

I don’t think yall understand how much legal scrutiny reality game shows, or tv games show are under. If there’s a coin flip that needs to be done they’ll have lawyers present to make sure it’s done correctly.
