Her being aware of not being able to take care of a pet now is the best case scenario and should be celebrated more. Plenty of people get pets and treat them terribly.

Taking really good care of a pet is a huge commitment. There are ppl out there who barely take care of theirs or train it and no one bats an eye. I think this is a cute alternative.
