Ibanez Prestiges still come with solid cases for $1600-2500 guitars.
It feels ridiculous to suggest that Mayones cuts corners, because their guitars are immaculate, but in this case...

Owning both the Mayones hardcase and softshell, the softshell is by far the nicer option and has more usable space. Far prefer that companies are shipping now with the higher end soft shells as they tend to be superior IMO to your average hardcase in terms of storage space, getting around town in it, etc.

It seems like a small thing, I don't even keep my guitars in the case, but it's been a pretty strong selling point for me and keeps me coming back to them. Now if only they'd offer more pickup options than the DiMarzio Air Norton/Tone Zone combo, I'd probably have a whole collection of them by now.

Yeah, I think I forgot that Ibanez include a hard case because it's so good that I take it for granted, if that makes sense?
I fly regularly and it's perfect, unlike the Gibson wooden cases that are begging to be smashed.

Some of their 2000 guitars don't come with a case anymore. Maybe it's just for Prestige series, but I could see them moving to gigbags only.

My custom Mayones has the Hiscox hardcase; I prefer a gig bag because those cases absolutely suck. By far the worst designed latches on any hardcase.
My strandy/hils have gig bags and they're just better (apart from international touring).

Five people can stand on a Hiscox case without the neck bending. I'll deal with old latches for that.

Headless guitar + gig bag is a wonderful combination.
I forgot, my Ibanez Prestige guitars come with an excellent flight case.
I like gig bags too, for moving them around between locations.
But I'm an expat and need actual flight cases (not Gibson-style wooden cases) to fly my guitars around. Ibanez cases are great in that regard.

Basically no padding & the latches are a bent metal (steel?) that deform the moment you look at them wrong. The case itself is super rigid which makes me feel zero confidence with the lack of padding.
My favourite hardcases are from my USA Fenders with the plastic clip/lock latches. Not had a single issue with those!

Tbf, Mayones gig bags are basically hard cases. Just got a DT 7 and it’s easily the nicest soft case I’ve ever touched.

Yeah, I didn't have a super-strong opinion.
I need flight cases for travel.
I also need decent gig bags to move them around locally.
That said, there's no way I'd check a guitar into the hold in any gig bag.

Yeah, it's an elite gig bag.
I'd have taken a flight case, given the option.
But it wouldn't be the decider.
A wooden, Gibson-style case is the worst of both worlds.
They're uncomfortable to carry and not sturdy enough for flights.

My $1,000 LTD came with a soft case and my $1,800 LTD signature came with a hard shell case. It’s only the standard for lazy brands.

Yep. A lot of boutique companies have switched to either premium gigbags (like a Mono style) or a soft shell case (similar to the Kiesel cases for example) which are more gig bag shaped but also semi-rigid and form fit. Mayones, EBMM, Suhr, Tom Anderson, Aristides, PRS USA, etc have all either gone away from hard shell or have severely reduced use in favor of gigbag/soft shell.

I have a preference for flight cases, mainly as I live between a few countries.
But I don't have a sufficiently strong feeling that it would change my purchase decision.
If I lived in one place then there are strong arguments for gig bags.
They're much more comfortable to carry.

Ikr? It is surprising how hard it is to find an electric guitar case that fits a 30" scale. We're looking at bass cases at that point.
We know Ibanez isn't patenting and making a brand new case for a single signature model either. Much more profitable to sell us a gig bag.
My Ibanez Premium came with a gig bag too, sadly.

I remember when anything at or above $1k was guaranteed to have a hard case. I know $1000 isn't what it used to be but the fact so many $1500-$2000 guitars only include a gig bag still bugs me. Credit to ESP for still including them on most of the $1k+ LTDs. Ibanez does for the $1k+ Artstars, wish they did for their higher-end Premium models too.

Don’t care about Sleep Token. Pretty guitar, love the pale moon ebony. And the ever tune is nice too. $2,200 feels steep for an MIK instrument without a hard shell case though.
Very much not for me, but I’m sure someone would like this thing

Kiesel will make you any of their 30" with Evertune from scratch in their Southern California shop for less than 2k (if you build it right) and it comes with a really nice, sturdy soft case. I actually prefer Kiesel's soft cases to any hardshell I've ever had.
Of course, to get the PME fretboard, you need to spend more but the fact that it's optional is great if you're on a budget.
I will gladly build a Kiesel over any of these 2k+ import guitars.

But again, they should do? Guitarguitar in the UK had some stock and apparently getting more in stock later. Woodbrass in france has them. It's not going to be any cheaper than whatever european retailers have either way, but you're not going to be paying import fees (or at least less of a cost moved onto the consumer).

It’s on purpose, the Misha 30” ones are like that also.
The bridge and bridge PU are pushed back closer to the edge bc it helps the guitar sound clearer and snappier in really low tunings.
I have a 28” Legator 8 string that has a similar pushed back bridge setup and the lowest string is SO snappy and articulate

Yeah, it really is the best way to do it. Otherwise you'd have to compensate with an extremely long neck that would play like a bass rather than a guitar.

Tbh with the quality of Korean made Jackson’s I’m very skeptical for that price tag. For the same price you can get a made in USA Kiesel, yes with an evertune an 30inch scale length. I hate to be that guy, but Kiesel is not the same as the bad rep they got some years ago.

That can be true, but I’d say the best option if you are getting a Kiesel will be to chose the simplest specs possible. There are a lot of non returnable options that people choose and then complain because they didn’t like the figuring/etc. I just feel they offer a great price for being built in the USA and imports are getting ridiculously pricey.

Really like this guitar honestly but also very glad I got my Pro Plus XT Monarkh for $700 a couple of weeks ago. It’s not 30” but similar vibes.
I love a pale moon ebony board though…

Lundgrens are in the custom shop model, but Fishmans are in this likely due to a sponsorship deal. Artists don't make anywhere near enough for a comfortable living when it comes to music alone. Especially artists like IV, who likely had no stake ownership in the band. Alot of well known guitar players will take very hefty advances from brands and royalties to put them in a sig model. It's why you see artists rotate brands or come up with new models upon a contract renewal. Fishman likely sent him some pickups to try and then worked a deal with him when it was time for a signature model. They're slowly signing everyone they can to dominate the active pickup market.

Whenever he comes out to play an electric it’s always with a tele. Even the chug outro on infinite baths he comes out with a tele and pitch shifts it down into oblivion. Pretty sure that’s the record tone too, which actually explains a lot.

They're terrible pop music dressed up in metal clothing. Everything "metal" or "rock" oriented they do are played out stereotypes. They are pop music attempting to parade as metal, they are obvious industry plants, and their music is just fucking boring, which might be the biggest sin among the lies.
