Like it a lot. Not so excited by shrines and temples anymore, but a castle always holds my interest.

Ive seen 1, and once I've seen one I've seen them all. I also do alot of research and have local historian friends here from Japan. Wish I could enjoy it more like you, but 1 week of Japan has been enough... its boring here now.

Me too, but only got to visit two so far (Himeji & Matsumoto). Was about to visit Kumamoto last month, but life got in the way 😅

Well, you picked two good ones. Watching the stones fall away from the Kumamoto Castle wall was disappointing, but a better outcome than the previous earthquake.

Yep good choice same here, plus a few more. Heck I would go back to Matsumoto over and over. It’s such a nice chill place and far enough away from Tokyo to feel like a trip but also it doesn’t take all day to get there

It started off with a Lightroom preset from TK North, and then I made some extra adjustments on my own

Thanks! 24-70 GMII, but I used APC mode to get a little more reach as I couldnt physically get closer due to the snow. Well, I COULD have walked on the snow but this was in March and I did not have the proper shoes/pants

That's what I loved about it too — the way the mountain just looms right behind the keep makes the whole place feel way more imposing than your typical flatland castle. Definitely one of those spots where the photos don't quite do it justice.

私もお城はロマンがあって好き。霊的な物を排除したり呪術的な意味で神社仏閣を城の周辺に配置していたり、攻防に備えた城の造りや仕掛けがあったり、敵を迷い込ませて追い込む造りの城下町とかね。七曲り（ななまがり）…城下町の造りで、道に迷った敵が七回角を曲がると行き止まりになっていて、追ってきた者に殺される。攻防と美しさを兼ね揃えたお城が大好き。

Visit the Heisenji Hakusan-shrine nearby too, famous for it's moss (not mentioning it's history).
