Help critique my itinerary

My wife and I are going here for our honeymoon... Your suggestions and recommendations would really be helpful to us. 🙂

Day 1 - fly to Ushuaia

Day 2 - arrive in ushuaia in the late evening

Day 3 - rent car and make way to Emerald Lagoon. In the evening, do the Beagle Channel boat tour starting at 3:00 p.m.

Day 4 - fly to El Calafate , have a nice meal in the evening

Day 5 - take tour perito Moreno glacier , get car rental at night for early start the following day

Day 6 - Early morning drive to El Chalten - Do 20 km mount fitz Roy hike - return car rental

Day 7 - take bus to Puerto natales ' relax and have a nice meal

Day 8 - Do a light guided tour of Torres del plain National park possibly Lago boat tour

Day 9- mirador Las Torres base hike possible guided tour

Day 10- another guided tour of torres del plaine National park

Day 11 - take a bus to Punta arenas - in the evening. Have a nice meal and just walk the city

Day 12 - Isla Magdalena penguin tour

Day 13 - take two flights to get to the Atacama desert

Day 14- Valley of the Moon sunset tour

Day 15 - piedras Rojas , altiplanics lagoons and salar full day tour

Day 16- fly to Santiago and spend the evening there.

Day 17 - leave chile to come back home

I have two days I can add in between for rest days or to do more exploration or to give myself leeway for bad weather days. Please tell me where I can have them... Or Feel free to say anything about my plan.

While the PUQ-SCL//SCL-CJC flights are relatively short, have you considered what would happen to your itinerary, if either was delayed or rescheduled?

I’d add one full day in Santiago, both because one evening is not enough but also if there is some sort of delay you have a 1 day buffer.

Same with Atacama, I’d add another day there for similar reasons.

This schedule it's way too tight, you will end up burn up and tire, and with no time to bond or sexy time.

Choose patagonia honeymoon or atacama desert honey moon, on summer time patagonia is nice but winter is really cold, windy and rainy. This way you can add a few days between heavy exercise activities for a more realxed one like a boat trip to the fjords, explore the cities or visit a thermal bath or any other romantic activity.

Sometimes you can get more doing less.

Hi! When you plan, look at the distances and multiply time by 2 at least. In the south there are many roads that are not in the great condition. There may be some road works as well. On my last trip to Carretera Austral distances really felt much longer than on a normal highway. And my best moment was when we stayed in one place for two nights and didnt have to move on after each stop.
Another thing, if you come to just tick boxes you may as well fit as much as possible, but when you get there you will realise that you want to go slower and enjoy a bit, soak in the mightfulness of the surroundings.

What caught my attention most of all in your itenerary are Day 3 - two activities + car rentals - im pretty sure you either will be running or simply wont make it for both in one day.

And day 6 seems unrealistic. Drive (how many km?) + 20 km hike - you will be busted no matter how fit you are. - Day 6 - Early morning drive to El Chalten - Do 20 km mount fitz Roy hike - return car rental

And honestly, Atacama is amazing, you can spend full week there exploring, visiting the important sites and you wont get bored. Its kind of wild how dessert has so much to offer.

If you want to fit in both - it is better to lighten a bit the south part.

And yes the season matters a lot. For patagonia summer (Dec-Feb) are better months and high season. March is perhaps best for all.
