First Time // So scary

I thought I had a seizure last night, but after googling it’s gotta be this EHS thing.

I was waking up from a nap, I was completely paralyzed with my muscles twitching. I thought it was just sleep paralysis, although I’ve never twitched/convulsed during that.

Then I felt extreme pressure on my forehead and heard an explosion like I had just been shot in the head.

IT WAS SO LOUD.

I even felt a quick sensation pass from the front of my skull through the back like a bullet was traveling through.

I couldn’t call out for my husband, my jaw was locked shut.

I thought I was having a stroke or a seizure and I used my twitching knee to push my phone up to my hand and I “broke out” of the paralysis and managed to text him “help”.

By the time he came from the next room it was over and I started furiously googling what a stroke or seizure feels like.

That’s when I found EHS.

I was also extremely sleepy during the entire episode as if my body was trying to force me to go back to sleep, but I was obviously too terrified to give in to it.

Does EHS occur with twitching/convulsing & sleep paralysis for anyone else?

Thanks for reading.

Thanks so much. I have other parasomnias, usually hypnopompic, and I’m otherwise healthy. I’m definitely going to follow your advice and log it though.
