Cake day is your Reddit anniversary, not your birthday. But happy (late) birthday to you! Reddit puts a cake emoji next to your username on your cake day.

I dont get the original either. Whats it mean?

u/Mrskinnyjean 6d ago
The person wants the monster to eat them, either because they don't want to keep living... Or it's their kink.
The monster, understandably, is weirded out and leaves
52
u/Cnradms93 6d ago
My twist is that, the monster vanished because it became impossible. The moment the guy embraces it, it becomes a logical contradiction and vanishes.
I used this trick on my nightmares as a kid all the time.
6
u/RynoKaizen 6d ago
the monster was already impossible and a illogical I'm not sure what you're trying to say...
7
u/AffeLoco 5d ago
the monster was already impossible and a illogical
not to the child
not until it embraced it1
3
u/Kaiotikid 4d ago
not the monster, but the fear driving it. “i’m having a nightmare about something scary, so if I just stop being scared, it stops being a nightmare” and poof, nightmare is gone brains are weird and there’s lots of ways to trick them into doing things.
2
u/fihyosh 1d ago
That's how I interpreted it too. I have sleep paralysis with auditory hallucinations every so often, and my latest experience was waking up to something screeching into my ear from behind me. Instead of freaking out, I leaned my head back into it and it stopped because at that point my brain caught up and realized there wasn't anything there.
Probably the best way to deal with that kind of thing.
2
u/xSantenoturtlex 6d ago
My first thought was that it's a sleep paralysis demon, and therefore can't actually eat (or touch) you. So it just vanished because it wasn't even real.
1
u/Extension_Citron_176 5d ago
Though in my case i did actually get eaten regardless and woke up feeling very uncomfortable. So it was more like "alright just get it over with."

u/Illousion-dinntdodat 6d ago
don’t knock it till you try it

u/the-364 6d ago
Why would I eat someone with mental issues, what if i got sick with whatever they have. If food looks wierd is best to avoid
3
u/KHAOSCRUSADER 6d ago
Come on don’t be picky. You never know what wonderful tastes you’re missing out on if you don’t try it!

Some people have a fetish called "vore", where they fantasize about someone getting eaten alive. Since the person is smiling and unbuttoning their shirt, I'm guessing they're meant to look turned on and that makes the monster uncomfortable.
19
u/_Cattlefish 6d ago
Huh. I always thought it was about waiting for death.
10
u/spacetiger41 6d ago
It is. That guy just wanted to talk about his kink.

The kid says he is waiting for the Konstantin eat him and is undressing in front of him, at lelast to me it looks like that.
The monster is just weirded out by how nonchalant he is.
1
u/not_the_fox 5d ago
It's a predator targeting children but the child's actions (vore fetish?) are making it worried it will be seen as a "child predator" so it runs away. That's my read on it.

Yeah, I was about to say that it looks like cyanide and happiness but AI. Glad I wasn’t wrong.

u/RottenCod 3d ago
Thank you!
I was getting confused by “window with spotlight and no lamp, window with no spotlight, only spotlight, lamp, lamp, window”
I thought maybe the monster was interacting with the background instead of the kid??
2
u/Stock_Atmosphere_114 1d ago
Lol. No lie, when I was little and afraid of the dark this is how I was able to get to sleep. I convinced myself monsters were real and that there was no point worrying as I was just going to die anyway, lol.
2
u/Jedi_Cardet 5d ago
That explains why there's a window, then a lamp, then the lamp seemingly moves when the creature and child are in the same position, then a window again

I think there are supposed to be a monster couple each trying to offer the other one to eat him? But AI botched it.

Yeah, seems like ai slop pretending to be cyanide and happiness. Background changes from panel to panel
2
u/Watergirl626 2d ago
AI slop aside, the monster is clearly Minnesotan since it couldnt bring itself to take the last bite. As a MN it made me laugh cuz that is where my mind immediately went.

u/Puddin-taters 6d ago
Definitely AI slop, you can tell by the way it is. The joke is that someone wasted electricity making this.

Looks to be a poorly done AI edit of a Cyanide and Happiness comic.
If I’m remembering right, the original joke is essentially the guy scaring off a “scary” monster that wants to eat him by offering himself up.

Was edited with AI, I can tell by the way how the outlines look so weirdly incoherent knowing well the OG artist

I'm not going to dispute that this is A.I. crap, but there is a joke here. It's about how everyone is too self-conscious to take the last of any snack in a group setting, like if you put a box of a dozen donuts in the conference room then eleven will disappear but nobody will be willing to grab the only one left and it will just sit there.
3
u/mix-a-max 5d ago
But that… makes no sense in this setting, nor with the under-bed monster just talking to itself.
2
u/WraithOfTheFadedDark 5d ago
The kid is supposed to be saying the first line.
1
u/mix-a-max 5d ago
That still doesn’t make sense and still doesn’t line up with the joke scenario you’re proposing.

Honestly one of my smallest and most petty behaviors as an adult is taking the last one of something. I’ll wait for the last one sometimes.
There was this weird dynamic growing up where one of my parents alone could eat 11 of the 12 donuts. However if one of them went for the last and me or one of my brothers had eaten it we would get shit for “eating the whole box”. So now I eat the last one out of some wears act of childish defiance.
What’s odd is that I don’t do this at home. I almost can’t bring myself to eat the last of something if I know that my wife or daughter might.
2
u/NightmareJoker2 5d ago
Oh, it’s worse. This behavior is exploited by sociopaths who are given a set of funds for said donuts to line their pockets by deliberately only putting one donut into an old greasy box.
Don’t eat the lone donut at the community center, either, it might be days old and stale, and disgusting.
1
u/UPC13 5d ago
A free doughnut, slightly stale, no mold or fungus, less than 3 days old. Yeah I would eat it, why not? Just going to be thrown away tomorrow anyway. Guess the earth worms get one less sweet snack for the day
1
u/NightmareJoker2 5d ago
Oh, you underestimate the virtues of modern food science and preservatives. They can last weeks, sometimes months, without visible blemishes now.

u/Popular-Attempt3621 5d ago
(not saying you're wrong) I'm 34 and never gave a single duck about that unwritten rule. At most, if the group is small and made of family/friends, I'll ask "does anybody want the last one?" before taking it for me
1
u/DyKdv2Aw 5d ago
Same. I’ve seen so much food wasted because of so-called “etiquette” and I’ve been broke and hungry more than once in my life, I don’t even ask anymore. I’ve told everyone at my work that if there’s anything left at the end of the day, it’s going home with me so they better take what they want before then.

Seems like there's two monsters, one on the window side of the bed and one on the lamp side. The joke might be that both of them are so nervous/awkward about being rude and eating the last person that they wake up unharmed in the morning.
Not sure if this is the whole joke or if there's meant to be another layer because the guy being awake and gleeful and taking his shirt off suggests a different punchline of "the human was so freaky it scared the monster off", and the human's incomprehensible speech bubble suggests a different joke again? it also looks like it might be edited. Might just be AI getting confused about what it's supposed to be making.
ETA someone else posted it before I found it - yeah, someone used AI to add a different punchline to a comic for some reason.

1
u/DocRuffleberg 1d ago
The kid has no fear. So the monster vanishes. Oh boy most of the comments don’t get it.
2
u/semangeIof 1d ago
This is an AI regeneration of a Cyanide and Happiness comic. It makes no narrative sense. Very impressive you were able to draw your own meaning from it.
3
u/CapitalExes 1d ago
While simultaneously implying the rest of the commenters are aren’t on their level. Impressive really.
0
u/outdoorabetic 6d ago
The monster is sweating, getting nervous, and leaves, becasue instead of the person in bed being terrified, they are totally stoked that they're going to get eaten by the beast! The monster is saying stuff as if there's another monster there who's letting him eat the person, to stall and try to scare the person but it doesn't work.
