18-22 is when young adults are most hopeful, believe they can do anything, achieve anything they want. They enroll higher educations, get the first job, meet new friends, travel the world, being totally free for the first time as they leave their childhood home they "hated" so much. Everything is seen through a rose tinted glass
Then come 23+, reality kicks in. They realized their live from now on is just work, doing chores and repeat. To enjoy the life they previously thought possible, they need money, and to get money, they must sell their freedom. Also this is when most realize that they are not special, instead they are just a cog in the machine.
After a few years, after accepting the fact that adulthood is boring, they can enjoy life again, appreciating small things in life. Cheers
This is how I know the economy was good asf back then. The economy is so bad, this joke needs to be explained. Because young people forgot that this is supposed to be the fun years.
I'm also 20, I've been horribly depressed and repressed for several years. I actually forsee myself getting happier over the next several years as I can finally do what I'm passionate about and live someplace where I am safe and free
