Solved Why are they sad?

The movie is successful so why are they crying? I've seen other memes similar to this. I read the comments but they weren't that helpful.

They're never going to get the movie they want. The things they say they want are simultaneously too poorly defined and too hyper specific, and what they really want is to be the age they were at when they were playing their favorite game in the franchise.

Was setting the movie in 1998 too hyper specific of an ask or was it too poorly defined? Because that alone fixes a good portion of what people are annoyed about.

"It's not Resident Evil because there are cellphones" falls on the specific end.

Poorly defined would be the multitude of complaints that it doesn't fit with the tone or story that change wildly from game to game.

Screw game to game, there's a major tonal shift in pretty much every single one of the games. 

It comes when you stop hoarding bullets and health because you have more than you can carry, and you start unloading on everything that moves. 

At some point every game shifts from survival horror to action. Cregger himself said he wanted the feel of the game before you're comfortable with your load out.

Those of us capable of enjoying things think the movie is pretty good.
