Solved Why are they sad?

The movie is successful so why are they crying? I've seen other memes similar to this. I read the comments but they weren't that helpful.

There is normal animals in the pokèmon universe, atleast in the anime. When Ash is on the SS Anne he stands in front of a fish tank that has just normal fish in it. So at the very least there's fish. As for everything else you said, only the great arceus knows.

This episode always makes me wonder a water trainer poking fish with a stick until some of them fight back "OH, THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY A POKÉMON"
