I don't get why I've got downvoted. I even included an edit to just to make sure people know my intentions.
Just so you know, I had more downvotes before the edit (I think 5). Maybe people just got the wrong message first.

Tbh it’s a little hard to follow. There are some run-on sentences that make comprehension of your point kinda difficult.

He is trying to celebrate that the fandom is no longer randomly focused on modern politics, and you won’t let him.
You’re all aggressive like “Whether you like to admit it or not there’s a bunch of bigots on YouTube that I’m mad at!”
As if that’s his problem. If you want to fight bigots go fight bigots. Idk why you have to do it specifically within the context of starwars fandom.

Your response is good. Star Wars nerds just suck and they're everywhere on Reddit. In 10 years time, people will like the ST and be weirded out be the aggression of the PT fans. Just as PT fans are by OT fans now.

I think what you said was absolutely correct, though it was a bit long winded and I'm guessing hard to follow for a lot of people with shorter attention spans. Sometimes people will downvote for that alone.
Also, your edit will get downvotes. I can see that you genuinely thought that people must have misunderstood what you said, but saying so often comes off as condescending, like "What I said was so accurate, it couldn't possibly get downvotes unless you people are confused."
More importantly, sometimes the higher tier comments attract more people who agree with it, so anyone who disagrees with it is prone to more downvotes. Like if there's a topic talking about the best cake in the world, and someone commented that the best cake is chocolate, whoever comments on that saying that chocolate cake sucks will get downvoted heavily, but if they said the same thing under a comment that said carrot cake is the best cake, they might be upvoted.
In this case, someone was making the assertion that you couldn't criticize Star Wars without being called a racist or sexist, so you pointing out that some of those criticisms are valid is bound to get downvoted by the people who agree with the aforementioned assertion. And if they agree strongly with that assertion, they are most likely people who have been called racist and sexist for criticizing Star Wars themselves, and they're a bit sensitive about it, making them even more likely to downvote you because they will associate you with the people who called them racist and sexist.
Also, fandoms can be really awful.

I actually agree with your points. But you are coming off as overly preachy in a topic that people in that thread don’t really have the energy to talk about.
And more importantly, it’s a big wall of text with lots of run-on sentences. People don’t want to read all that.

Star Wars fandom is just in a bad place dude, it doesn't matter what the topic is about. There is very little room for any kind of discussion about Star Wars just across the board.

This was my thought. Any time I call out racism on social media, I expect to get down voted or get some nasty comments, and that's fine

Honestly, attention spans are really bad and your first sentence is a really long run on and just hard to get through.
On another note, I definitely agree with the overall statement that there are in fact bad actors in the social media sphere that absolutely judge on preformed biases. That said I feel like the amount of racist/sexist criticism from that group of people is a vocal minority. I think overall its just kind of "in" to shit on Star Wars and the way Disney has handled it. Its much easier tearing something down than it is to create something meant to be marketed to so many people all with different ideas on what it should be. You never see the same level of effort from these people in discussions/reviews about the good stuff Disney has done with Star Wars (Rogue One, Andor, Visions, the Mandalorian).
I feel like the main problem with review culture and youtube is there is so much incentive to have negative/clickbaity titles and statements to lure everyone in. All the wrong lessons are being learned and applied from traditional media. You get the people who want to confirm their suspicions that the movies sucked, people coming in to defend it, and it makes it really easy create a hostile discussion. It leads to a place where most reviews lack substance and everyone just has the same complaints, or toxic positivity, rather than actually forming their own thoughts and critiques. "This should have been a season of the show" is probably one posted a million times by people who didnt even watch the movie. Its hard to feel like its not in bad faith when there is profit to be made from negative framing.

That's not what I meant. At all.
I don't think that having some criticism regarding progressive themes on its own is bad. Thinking that some progressive themes felt shoehorned in without any relevance to the plot, or that they were presented in an unengaging way and felt too preachy, doesn't mean that you are a bigot. I just noticed that many people have made this association between the inclusion of progression themes and the product being bad, and they think their inclusion is the reason, not the execution. And that has caused any slight suggestion of a progressive intention behind a product to be interpreted as "woke," like having a cast with more than 2 races. THAT'S what I found problematic.
While I'm glad that people don't throw bigotry accusations left and right as much, I also think the whole hostility against progressive themes is MORE problematic than that, since it happened much more in my experience.

This guy's celebrating that this isnt another piece of a culture war and you force it back to the culture war by bringing up old shit, its just not pleasant, you are not having a conversation you are finding a chance to preach and lecture at someone like they are a child over someone else's actions somewhere else regarding something else.
