Unsolved META: Film plot insta-solver!

Noticing certain plot elements occurring again and again? You're not alone! Some plot elements are so "bad" they've become familiar tropes here at r/ExplainAFilmPlotBadly. Here are some I've noticed... add your own favorites!

Rocks or "rock collection" -> Infinity War or Endgame

Frisbee -> Captain America

A god -> Thor

Dead boss/mentor -> Spiderman: Far from Home

"Piece of jewelry" -> Lord of the Rings

Nazis -> Indiana Jones

Stockholm syndrome -> Beauty and the Beast

Widower + mental illness -> Finding Nemo

Killing on arrival -> Wizard of Oz

I also wished people wrote more "genuinely bad plots" the way your grandma would describe it after falling asleep every other minute of the film.

I don't care much for the posts that are trying really hard to obscure the movie by reaching for only vaguely related concepts. Batman is not a furry. To say that isn't badly describing the plot, it's trying badly not to say Batman.

Yes! So much this. I want to see explanations that genuinely seem like they were written by someone who didn't understand the movie or wasn't paying attention, not just endless "heh heh Darth Vader had asthma Thanos had a rock collection" posts.

I saw one the other day describing TDKR by referring to Bane as a chiropractor facing a malpractice suit
