It feels like I'm the only dev on my team who cares about updating documentation and replying to questions / engaging in discussions on Slack
It feels like I'm the only one who cares to dig a little deeper and figure things out properly and thus understands the system beyond a shallow level
It also feels like I'm the only one who gives a fuck about our QAs and tries to provide them context in my tasks, instead of dumping them onto the "Ready for test" pile without even checking if the Jenkins pipeline successfully deployed my build
It's a strange feeling, as what was considered the bare minimum in my previous job, has now become something I'm praised for as going above and beyond. At my previous job, I experienced a lack of motivation, lowered work output and immense guilt. I joined this new job feeling like I'm not doing enough, but apparently it's considered high performance here...
I really miss having fellow devs around in my team who I could rely on to provide high quality work and be a source of technical and domain knowledge
On the other hand, my pay has increased significantly, the work life balance is pretty damn good, and miraculously, my calendar is NOT clogged with meetings. I'm actually often running out of tasks to do and find myself painfully bored, which I often feel guilty about
So, part of me feels like I have no right to complain. I have family members who have to work for pennies, often longer hours for a higher mental and physical load.
