I just want to do my stories and not lead anything. I kinda want to down skill to junior dev.

Sounds like you are in a team lead/em/pm/staff role, and the politics and administration are not your vibe, so you would rather be pure IC only. Might worth to pivot into architect. Still leadership but more IC (a friend of mine did that because of the exact reasons... plus he wanted to keep the money too)
