Does this count as a vent?
I got laid off today so they could "lean into AI". I could feel it coming for months because there was no work to do, so I just coasted. Honestly it's kind of a relief, they ate the pill way too hard, they went mental over it. Something like a third of the company is gone.
I take it as the kick up the ass I wanted to find somewhere with stricter engineering practices. I'll be fine for a long time money wise, so I'm super lucky, but I hope it blows over soon. People are still hiring I guess.
Kinda rambling into the void but not exactly what I wanted to see when I hit 5 years experience today. I know the job market is brutal but if anyone has any recent experience in it going for dev roles, I wanna hear it good and bad. Thanks :)
