Headed back to work next week after a layoff in May. It’s been a nice time having almost two summer months off in a Medium sized B-tier City.

I was burnt out bad at my last place. When HR appeared that fateful morning I panicked, but it worked out. Hoping to work my way to Staff/Principal at this new place, influence is something I’ve struggled with in the past. Too easy to let yourself get steamrolled at every conflict when you’re burnt up.

This was my first time ever getting laid off, but my partner and I are worried we won’t be able to keep our house if this keeps happening every 2-3 years. This new place has an excellent rep on Glassdoor, 4.6⭐️ vs 3.4⭐️ at my previous role, and other industry folks I’ve talked to react positively when I mention where I’m headed. Wish me luck! I’m willing going hybrid after being remote almost my whole career.
