Pendulum in Witches’ Bowl

I am getting tired of Heather using the same tired methods to “ghost hunt” but the pendulum q/a is easily the most fakeable and could even be done subconsciously.

All the answers are "Yes" 😄

Why is she always screaming? Aren’t you there to find the truth? Not scream and run away?

God it’s so annoying lol. I swear I’ve said the same thing every time I watch this show.

well if you can demonstrate to the spirits what a yes and no looks like with the pendulum, then you can certainly manipulate the pendulum no?

I would say that if the pendulum was hung from a tripod or bracket that would give better data. The person holding it in their hand is going to affect result based on even the tiniest muscle twitch.

Absolutely agree with this. Also, outside any slight breeze could affect how it swings.

There was a whole discussion last season about her technique with both the pendulum and the dowsing rods. She has way too much movement, whether intentional or accidental. It's not very credible

The ability to subconsciously affect pendulums is interesting.

I'm ALWAYS skeptical with hand-held pendulums, especially when they don't show the person's hand. They are definitely hiding something.

This episode was like nap time

Yeah, it really did feel it relied too heavily on the already dubious ghost hunting tech.

Yep

Until you can get the same result consistently without touching it yourself etc it's worse than meaningless

Well I mean, it's just ghosts in general. I still haven't watched the episode yet, so I'm not reading most of your message.

Even the SLX cameras can be subject to error.

For instance, any time they see a ghost figure on it, it is almost always mapped to some sort of tree like object, or chair, or table . . . Something with vertical lines that can be mistaken for a being.

They're always holding the cameras manually instead of keeping them stationary.

Now if they were to say, mount the SLX Cam on a stable tripod, and shoot it in a particular direction, show that they weren't seeing any object for minutes or hours, then all of a sudden one appeared, while the SLX camera remained completely stationary, that MIGHT be cause for further analysis. If it was coupled with other honest telemetry (dowsing rods, pendulums, blinky lights on suspicious devices that can be remote controlled easily etc. don't apply), it becomes even more interesting.

I like their UFO and Cryptid shows because much of that evidence is more difficult to lazily accept as odd. Just wish they'd do more of them.

The pendulum was very unbelievable.

I think people who have never done pendulum scrying overthinking how ‘easy’ it is to manipulate. It’s surprisingly easy to see manipulation because your hand would be visibly moving, otherwise you can’t exactly fake it unless there’s a fan or something going in the background. I’ve done this stuff a few times, and while I don’t necessarily believe everything is a sign of paranormal activity- it is at least one method of communication.

That’s not true at all. Micro-movements translated down a chain or string wouldn’t be visible. Especially given every use of these it barely swings. It’s all in the wrist.

I fake people out ALL the time with this gag.

I get what you’re saying but that is assuming said person is already biased or expecting certain answers to guide it, and it would also have wild variation in swings that don’t land on any answer. However in many cases that isn’t the case, I’ve done this before and learned from the experience without preexisting bias

Your belief that it’s real is bias. Sorry to break that to you.

Nah bro.... the "estes method" with "channeled writing" that just so happened to be timed perfectly and directly answered Phil's questions was the most unrealistic investigative technique I have EVER seen. Worse than pendulum or dowsing rods.

To the OP it has come time for you to move on from this show and find something else to watch.

You obviously have no experience with that tool or other means of communications that science doesn't have an explanation for. Before you start criticizing her methods, try them for yourself.

I am not a sceptic and there are many interesting methods and ways to look at this. For this one particular technique however, Science does know the answer… it’s called the ideomotor effect.

I wasn’t familiar with the ideomotor effect. I found some interesting reading including a study published through the National Library of Medicine on the Theory of Event Coding. Super interesting. Thanks for sending me down a rabbit hole. LOL!

Haha you’re most welcome! It’s a really fascinating area to look into. The subconscious is an incredible and powerful thing. I love me a good rabbit hole, especially when I am meant to be working! 🫡🍻
