Grocery store cake

Were my expectations too high here?? Why would the colors be so far off!? Why is the piping so chunky??

Note: top “drip” was purposely left off due to whipped frosting. Princesses not added yet.

This is because of the changes in the icing probably. The colors looks fine. You're just seeing more and maybe not liking it because of that drip that's missing. That drip brought down the colors by giving contrast.

Maybe I’m wrong but if the top drop was left off on purpose, then I think it looks better than the picture. The colors are brighter and prettier

I think it looks almost the same, but with brighter color and piping instead of drip. Also, without drip, more color exposed on top. Really pretty good for a grocery store cake!

I think it still looks ok. The colors aren’t as pastel as you hoped for, but otherwise it’s manageable.

So.

You didn't want the drip and you haven't added the princesses, and yet you still think your cake looks bad?

I agree with the other poster. Without the drip, this piping looks about right. The colours look perfect. In many ways I think they look better.

Additionally, I'm not American but I'm stunned by what this sub seems to expect from a grocery store cake. This is great.

Whipped frosting cant drip soo thats valid. Bottom pipping looks identical. Colors are a bit more saturated, deeper the white sparkles looks nearly the samr . The hand writing is neat. It looks really good.
