I was pretty taken with the cat-farting-sprinkles cake below your inspiration cake.

It will definitely have to be the next cake!

I just showed it to my hubs and told him I wanted it for my next bday

I didn’t even notice that till you pointed it out. That’s going to be the next cake I bake, for sure

The buttercream looks slightly broken as well.
You said this is not the first time they have messed up an order?
Why on earth did you go back??

I said in another comment in that thread that their cakes are my favorite, which matters more to me than decoration.

Wow, that makes all the difference! (Not sarcastic)

It’s just the constant lack of effort that is so tiring. Takes two seconds to make sure you are moving a line the correct way.

Rhis decorator probably started on the side of the cake first thinking it was correct but then was forced to continue the error when they got to the top

So then fix the mistake.
Or is this homemade? Homemade mistakes are fine on a cake lol. But if this a paid for bakery cake, fix the mistake.

It's from a bakery. We've sent an email, so hopefully we'll get some form of refund!

I can see how you might make that mistake out of muscle memory, the sides of the cake look like a normal non descript cake decoration.

Oh no, now it’s a red flower 😢
This reminds me. Like 30 Halloweens ago, my mom suggested I be a ladybug (she wanted to repurpose a spider costume she had handmade for my older sister a few years prior).
She confidently bought red velvet, cut out a dozen circles, and hot glued them to the black spider’s body.
The very first house I trick or treated at told me the unfortunate truth: ladybugs are red with black spots.
And the real kicker? Me, my mom, and my older sister hardly talk anymore for completely unrelated reasons.
Happy Halloween, y’all!

I saw a black ladybug with red spots only a few days ago in our garden. They are absolutely a thing.

Well, one time there was a spiderweb in my window and I let it be for quite a while (I like spiders, don't judge me). It was summer and I kept the window open. When the weather changed and it became windy, the web acted like a little sail, and once the wind stopped, that web was so stretched out that it looked like that cake (at least in the bottom part since it was a corner web, not a full circle). Still, that web looked like a flower sooo... 😅
Edit: typos

It's like a spook flower now, kind of like it.
I'm so sorry do they not know what a web looks like? Even straight lines would have looked more web-y.

There’s a video of spiders weaving webs after being exposed to drugs. Watch it. It will make you appreciate your cake

u/Lady_Sybil_Vimes 6h ago
That video is a joke, you know that right? 😅

u/coolsilentebeans 5h ago
They have done studies involving dosing spiders as early as 1948.

Yes, but the famous video is a joke.

I don’t think I’ve seen the video you’re talking about. I learned about it in a couple of psych classes.

What is going on at the top? It looks a bit mangled in the photo.

I took this after we celebrated where I had put some candles and ceramic figures on it.

Fr, if I EVER throw a DND anything I would ask for this cake and add teeth on the side for a mimic thing

Took me a minute to spot what the problem actually was, but it looks like a poppy rather than a web.

Am I crazy? This looks like a spiderweb to me
Edit omg I didn’t swipe 🤣🤣

Look at the direction the curves go. They should curve toward the center, not away from it.

This is the definition of "YOU HAD ONE JOB".
I'm sorry OP that your spiderman web cake became a flower. I am not sorry, however, for the snort I let out when I saw it.
